An apparatus stacks, compresses and packages compressible batts. The batts, once at least partially compressed, remain under compression during the stacking, compressing and packaging.

High speed, high performance bagging assembly

An adhesive is applied to a material under compression such that the adhesive penetrates the material when the material is a porous material (e.g., a fiberglass batt). Upon release from being compressed, the material returns to nearly its original size and shape and some of the adhesive penetrates into the material a given distance. Many mats of the material bearing the adhesive at selected locations can be placed on a common carrier for easy dispensing using a dispenser. The common carrier can be refurbished for reuse.

A method of making a multilayered insulation product includes applying a retention layer to a first fibrous insulation layer, where the retention layer is porous to enable liquids to pass therethrough, applying a hardenable liquid to the retention layer, where some of the liquid passes through the retention layer and contacts the first insulation layer, and hardening the liquid to bond the retention layer to the first insulation layer. A second fibrous insulation layer can be applied to the retention layer after the liquid is applied to the retention layer, in which case the hardening of the liquid bonds the retention layer to the second insulation layer.

Method of making multilayer insulation product

A method of forming an insulation product includes heating a thermoplastic material to a softened condition, and applying the thermoplastic material to a blanket of fibrous insulation material to form a laminated insulation material comprising a layer of the thermoplastic material bonded to the fibrous insulation material. The laminated insulation material is heated to soften it and molded to form it into a desired shape, and the molded laminated insulation material is cooled to form an insulation product.

Method of making an asphalt and fiber laminated insulation product

An apparatus for folding a fibrous insulation batt having a length and a width is disclosed. The batt has first and second sections, where each section is approximately one half the length of the batt. The apparatus comprises a lower conveyor for conveying folded batts in a first direction, and an upper conveyor which is positioned above the lower conveyor and move in the first direction to define a folded batt exit path. The apparatus further comprises a folding member for folding the insulation batt, where the folding member is adapted to contact the batt across its width. The folding member is mounted for movement to initially push the batt in a second direction, and then subsequently push the batt in the first direction, thereby pushing the batt along the folded batt exit path. The movement of the folding member folds the batt so that the first section of the folded batt is generally parallel to and contacting the second section.

Low stress batt folder

A fibrous insulation batt having a length and a width and including a first and second section, where each section is approximately one half the length of the batt, is folded so that the first section is generally parallel to and contacting the second section. The batt has two folds across its width and located between the first and second sections. The two folds are spaced apart from each other a distance approximately equal to the thickness of the uncompressed insulation batt. The two sections of the batt remain generally parallel to and contact each other when the batt is laid horizontal and in an unrestrained condition.

Method for double folding an insulation batt

A panel for an office sound screen includes a core which includes an asphalt layer and insulation layers positioned on both sides of the asphalt layer. Preferably the asphalt layer has a thickness between 0.030 inch (0.076 cm) and 0.125 inch (0.318 cm). The asphalt layer acts as an adhesive so that the insulation layers are laminated thereto. Preferably the insulation layers are made from a fibrous glass wool insulating material having a density between 0.5 pounds per cubic foot (8 kg/m.sup.3) and 5 pounds per cubic foot (80 kg/m.sup.3). The panel further includes a cover layer positioned on at least one side of the core.
