A multipurpose latch assembly (MPLA) for installation above the bore of a blowout preventer includes an annular sidewall extending between a top flange and a bottom flange and having an interior bore surface defining an interior bore. A plurality of latching slots extend through the sidewall and a latching dog is slidably positioned in each latching slot. Actuators are connected to the latching dogs to extend and retract them through the latching slots. A tool having an external slot can be inserted into the bore of the MPLA and selectively engaged by the latching dogs to secure the tool in the bore of above the blowout preventer.

Multipurpose latch for jack-up rig

A rotating control device is disclosed for the use of oil, gas or geothermal wells. While providing for sealing with or without rotation of the drill pipe, the device consists of a housing with guide rails attached beneath the two part dual actuated clamp that can be locked in place by remote controlled retention pins. The design has a novel adapter design enabling a common RCD bearing assembly to be installed in a variety of different housing sizes.

An autonomous drilling pressure control system for use with a drilling rig includes a pressure control device for controlling pressure within an annulus of an associated well, an electronic pressure sensor for monitoring pressure within the annulus, and an electronic position indicator for indicating a position of the pressure control device. A control subsystem independent of the drilling rig and responsive to the pressure sensor is provided for manipulating the pressure control device to control the pressure within the annulus of the associated well. At least one dedicated power source independent of the drilling rig supplies power to the pressure sensor and position indicator.

Autonomous drilling pressure control system

A modular rotating diverter head is disclosed for use on oil, gas or geothermal wells. While providing for sealing with or without rotation of the drill pipe, the head consists of a central housing body which has removable mounted flanges for vertical and horizontal use. The design enables the use of a multitude of different connectors and adapters as well as the replacement of these due to wear and tear without affecting the life and integrity of the central housing.

A method of drilling a subterranean bore hole comprising a) pumping a drilling fluid down a drill string, the drill string having a drill bit at an end thereof, b) rotating the drill string about its longitudinal axis to that the bit forms bore hole in the ground, the method further comprising the steps of: c) changing the rate of pumping of the drilling fluid into the drill string in response to a change in the speed of rotation of the drill string, and/or changing the speed of rotation of the drill string in response to a change in the rate of pumping of the drilling fluid into the drill string.

Method and apparatus for drilling subterranean borehole

An offshore universal riser system. A riser system includes a valve module which selectively permits and prevents fluid flow through a flow passage extending longitudinally through a riser string. An anchoring device releasably secures the valve module in the flow passage. A method of constructing a riser system includes the steps of installing the valve module in the flow passage, and installing at least one annular seal module in the flow passage. The annular seal module is operative to prevent fluid flow through an annular space between the riser string and a tubular string positioned in the flow passage. Drilling methods include injecting relatively low density fluid compositions into the annular space, and selectively varying a restriction to flow through a subsea choke in a drilling fluid return line. The riser string, including housings for the various modules and external control systems, is dimensioned for installation through a rotary table.

An offshore universal riser system may include a valve module which selectively permits and prevents fluid flow through a flow passage extending longitudinally through a riser string. An anchoring device may releasably secure the valve module in the passage. A method of constructing a riser system may include the steps of installing the valve module in the passage, and installing at least one annular seal module in the passage. The annular seal module may prevent fluid flow through an annular space between the riser string and a tubular string positioned in the passage.
