Described here are polyphenylene sulfide ('PPS') polymers having significantly improved processability. It was surprisingly found that PPS polymers, terminated with specific end-capping agents in specific amounts, had significantly improved melt stability. Because of the significantly improved melt stability, the PPS polymers can be advantageously incorporated into melt processing techniques.

A process for the manufacturing of a poly (arylether sulfone) polymer comprising reacting in a solvent mixture comprising a polar aprotic solvent and in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate, a monomer mixture which contains: at least one 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitol selected from the group consisting of isosorbide (1), isomannide (2) and isoidide (3); at least one dihaloaryl compound of formula (S): X&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;SO&#x2014;[Ar&#x2014;(T-Ar)&#x2014;SO]&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;X wherein n and m, equal to or different from each other, are independently zero or an integer of 1 to 5; X and X', equal to or different from each other, are halogens selected from F, Cl, Br, I; each of Ar, Ar, Arand Arequal to or different from each other and at each occurrence, is an aromatic moiety, T is a bond or a divalent group optionally comprising one or more than one heteroatom; optionally, at least one dihydroxyl compound different from the diol (AA); optionally, at least one dihaloaryl compound different from the dihalo (BB); and optionally, at least one hydroxyl-halo compound [hydro-halo (A&#x2032;B&#x2032;)]; being understood that the overall amount of halo-groups and hydroxyl-groups of the monomers of the monomer mixture is substantially equimolecular, so as to obtain a polymer (b-PAES), wherein the reaction is carried out at a total % monomer mixture concentration equal to or more 10% and less than 70% with respect to the combined weight of monomer mixture and solvent mixture.

An epoxy resin composition [composition (C)] comprising: (i) from 30 to 90% by weight of at least one epoxy compound [compound E], based on the total weight of the composition (C); (ii) from 0 to 60% by weight of at least one curing agent [agent C], based on the total weight of the composition (C); (iii) from 0 to 15% by weight of at least one accelerator, based on the total weight of the composition (C); (iv) from 1 to 60% by weight of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) (I) [PAES (I-1)], based on the total weight of the composition (C) and wherein said PAES (I-1) polymer comprises amine functional groups in an amount equal to or more than 200 &#x3bc;eq/g; (v) from 1 to 60% by weight of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) (I) [PAES (I-2)], based on the total weight of the composition (C), and wherein said PAES (I-2) polymer is different from the PAES (I-1) polymer.

Epoxy resin compositions

Copolymers comprising recurring units (A) of one or more of the general structural formulae -D-G-Ar-G-, -G-D-G-Ar- and/or -D-G- on one hand, and recurring units (B) of one or more of the general structural formulae &#x2014;Ar-G-Ar-G-, -G-Ar-G-Ar- and/or &#x2014;Ar-G- on the other hand, wherein D is a dibenzodiazocine-containing divalent group, Aris a dibenzodiazocine-free divalent group containing a sulfone unit and/or a ketone unit, Aris a dibenzodiazocine-free divalent group, and G is an ether or a thiether group. Preferably, recurring units (A) are of the general structural formula -D-G-Ar-G- and recurring units (B) are of the general structural formula &#x2014;Ar-G-Ar-G-. Method for the preparation of the copolymers, compositions and articles made of the copolymers are also part of the invention.

Copolymers of dibendiazocine with difunctional monomers containing sulfone and/or ketone units

A propylene polymer made using a magnesium halide-supported, titanium-containing solid catalyst component having a broad processing window is produced by incorporating into the polymerization catalyst system a selected alkyl methyldimethoxysilane, preferably isobutylmethyl-dimethoxysilane. Useful articles made from such resin include OPP film.
