Aqueous polymer emulsion-polyester polyol blend for reducing or eliminating flooding and floating in water-based two component polyurethane coatings

An improved two component coating system based upon crosslinkable hydroxy containing polymers and a polyisocyanate crosslinker. The improvement resides in the utilization of a water-borne hydroxy-terminated polyurethane prepolymer/acrylate hybrid, preferably a hydroxy acrylate hybrid, in combination with a water-dispersible polyisocyanate. A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming corrosion-resistant topcoat comprising an alkyd resin binder and a combination of pigments consisting essentially of an aluminum triphosphate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating contains up to about 40 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 2.0 parts by weight of an oil-soluble surface active or wetting agent and up to about 40 parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

Corrosion resistant self-priming alkyd topcoats

A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming topcoat comprising an epoxy resin binder and a combination of pigments consisting essentially of an aluminum triphosphate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating contains up to about 30 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 2.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble surface active agent and up to about 50 parts by weight of at least one organic paint solvent.

Epoxy self-priming topcoats

A corrosion-resistant polyurethane coating for application directly to a face as a self-priming topcoat comprising major amount of a polyurethane binder and minor amount of a combination of pigments consisting essentially of an aluminum phosphate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating contains up to about 30 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 2.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble surface active agent and up to about parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

In addition, the coating contains up to about 30 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 2.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble surface active agent and up to about 50 parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming topcoat comprising a polyurethane resin binder and a combination of pigments consisting essentially of a molybdate-modified zinc phosphate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating contains up to about 35 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 3.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble dispersant agent and up to about 50 parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming topcoat comprising a polyurethane resin binder and a combination of pigments consisting essentially of an alkaline earth metal metaborate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating contains from 5-40 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 3.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble dispersant and up to about 50 parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

In addition, the coating contains up to about 35 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment and up to about 3.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble surface active agent and up to about 50 parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming topcoat comprising an epoxy resin binder and a combination of pigments consisting essentially of an alkaline earth metal phosphosilicate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating contains up to about 35 parts by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment, up to about 3.0 parts by weight of an oil soluble surface active agent and up to about 50 parts by weight of at least one organic solvent.

A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming topcoat comprising from about 10 to 90 percent by weight of an epoxy binder and 5 to 65 percent by weight of a combination of metal salts or pigments which consist essentially of calcium borosilicate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating may contain up to about 30 percent by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment and up to about 75 percent by weight of at least one organic solvent.

Epoxy self-priming topcoat

A corrosion-resistant coating which can be applied directly to a surface as self-priming topcoat comprising from about 10 to 90 percent by weight of a polymeric polyurethane binder and 5 to 65 percent by weight of a combination of metal salts or pigments which consist essentially of calcium borosilicate, zinc salts of benzoic acids, and an alkaline earth metal phosphate such as zinc-barium phosphate. In addition, the coating may contain up to about 30 percent by weight of a titanium dioxide pigment and up to about 75 percent by weight of at least one organic solvent.

This invention relates to a corrosion-resistant coating capable of being lied to various substrates, e.g., particularly metal and plastic surfaces, as a single coat characterized as having a high-gloss, good adhesion and a high degree of flexibility. The corrosion inhibiting composition comprises an acrylic resin containing an effective amount of a corrosion-inhibiting pigment system consisting essentially of critical amounts of at least one zinc phosphate, zinc molybdate and at least one zinc salt of a benzoic acid.
