The modular shelf system disclosed allows for shelf construction of varying heights and/or configurations. The modular shelf system includes a first set of shelf members spaced vertically from each other and a second set of shelf members spaced vertically from each other. A plurality of interlocking leg members is coupled to the shelf members for supporting and spacing the shelf members vertically from each other. A shelf connecting clip is provided for connecting at least one shelf member of the first set to a horizontally adjacent shelf member of the second set. A slidable drawer may be supported by one of the shelf members.

Stackable rectangular containers, such as those for receiving pets, the top and bottom half of each container having spaced ledges adjacent the corners of the container for receiving extensions of the bases of rollers, when needed. When the rollers are removed, the containers become securely stacked by having upstanding rectangular portions which interfit with those of a stacked container at the four corners.

A pet carrier having ventilated sidewalls and four supports at the corners of the bottom of the carrier. Each support contains a roller that is selectively retractable into the support or projected outwardly to enable the carrier to be pulled by a pull cord. Four corresponding receptacles are secured to the corners of the top of the pet carrier of slightly greater dimension than said supports so as to snugly receive said supports when like carriers are in stacked position.

A portable litter box for a cat or other domesticated animal comprises a housing having upper and lower sections detachably securable to provide a substantially closed container. The sections are stackable or nestable for storage, shipping and/or display. Preferably, the upper section includes an opening for ingress and egress to the housing and a carrying handle for the box as well as means for holding a freshener; the lower section may include skid resistant feet. Pins are provided for detachably securing the sections together in assembly.
