A system and method for heart rhythm detection and reporting are disclosed. This cardiology system includes a biosensor system and a data analysis system. The biosensor system is worn by an individual and includes sensors that detect biosignals including infrasonic signals from the individual. The data analysis system receives the biosignals from the biosensor system, and determines heart rhythms of the individual based upon the biosignals. The system identifies at least some of biosignals as being associated with cardiovascular activity, such as pulse wave signals. Preferably, the biosensor system is an in-ear biosensor system that detects the biosignals via left and right earbuds placed within or at ear canals of the individual. The system can also identify arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation (Afib) arrhythmias from the heart rhythms, report information to health care and safety professionals and update medical records of the individuals.

System and method for heart rhythm detection and reporting

A system and method for cardiovascular monitoring and reporting are disclosed. The system (CV monitoring system) includes a data analysis system and an in-ear biosensor system that preferably includes left and right earbuds. The earbuds include infrasound/vibration sensors that detect biosignals from the individual including signals associated with cardiovascular activity (CV signals). The analysis system calculates cardiovascular function measurements (CV function measurements) based upon the CV signals. The CV monitoring system uses machine learning to predict blood pressure (BP) measurements of the individual based upon the CV signals and the calculated CV function measurements. In an embodiment, the CV monitoring system includes an EKG detection system that detects EKG signals associated with heart function. The analysis system can calculate additional CV function measurements from the EKG signals to augment the CV function measurements calculated from the CV signals, and predict BP measurements using the full complement of CV function measurements.

System and method for cardiovascular monitoring and reporting

A device () for supporting a valve annulus is described that includes spaced apart support members () and a connecting member () extending between and connecting the support members. At least one adjustor () is also provided that is engaged with the connecting member and can be actuated to modify a length of the connecting member between two adjacent support members. In addition, each support member may include at least two channels extending through the support members at different heights with respect to an overall thickness of the respective support member. Each channel may receive a portion of the connecting member therethrough, and each support member may further include a passageway between the channels to allow selection of one of the channels. In this way, the device may be adjusted in at least two dimensions to support the valve leaflets and promote sufficient closure of the leaflets.

Method and apparatus for therapy of aortic valve

Devices and methods are described for treating a mitral valve defect. The device described includes features that allow the device to conform to the actual pathology of the valve, rather than attempting to replicate a healthy valve (which the patient does not have). In this way, the device allows the patient's actual value to work as well as possible, given the valve's diseased condition. The actual pathology of the valve is accommodated by providing for multiple dimensions of adjustability of the device, including adjustability of the size (e.g., diameter) of the device as well as adjustability of the elevation or inclination of one portion of the device (e.g., the portion supporting the posterior leaflet) with respect to another portion of the device.

Method and apparatus for therapy of mitral valve

A method for transferring a macromolecular complex to muscle cells by exsanguinating a region of the subject's microvasculature and delivering the complex to this region under high hydrostatic pressure. A balloon catheter having a balloon that extends substantially the full length of the cannula that is inserted into the subject is provided for use in the systemic delivery of macromolecular complex.

Methods, compositions and apparatus for delivering heterologous molecules to cells

A perfusion circuit and a use thereof for delivering a substance to a subject's heart in situ during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery are provided. The perfusion circuit defines a path for re-circulating a solution containing a macromolecular complex through a coronary circulation circuit through a subject's heart during a surgical procedure in which the substance is prevented from being delivered to the subject's other organs.

Cardiac targeted delivery of cells

Compositions, methods, kits, and apparatus are provided for delivering a macromolecular assembly such as a plasmid, virus vector, or other gene vector, to an extravascular tissue such as muscle tissue. The composition comprises the macromolecular assembly and a vascular permeability-enhancing agent. In another embodiment, the composition further comprises a vasodilating agent. The method of the invention comprises proving a vascular permeability-enhancing agent to a blood vessel and providing a macromolecular assembly to the vessel. An oxygenator useful for providing oxygen to a fluid extracorporeally prior to providing the fluid to a blood vessel of a mammal is included in the invention. Kits, apparatus, and methods for using the catheters described herein for isolating cardiac circulation, diverting caval blood flow from the right atrium, and for other purposes, are also described.

Compositions, kits, methods, and apparatus for transvascular delivery of a composition to an extravascular tissue of a mammal

A pacing wire that eliminates the risk of cardiac tamponade when the wires are pulled through the heart muscle for removal by providing a 'slip joint' within the pacemaker wire by having one half of the wire fit snugly into the other half while covering the joint with overlapping insulation to provide a water tight seal to prevent risk of short circuit. When the pacing wire is removed, the insulation permits the two component halves to 'slip' relative to each other. When the wire is removed, the force applied to the wire at the skin is transferred to the subcutaneous tissue by a 'winged insulation umbrella' which prevents motion of the portion of the wire left attached to the heart and transfers the pulling force to the chest wall. Consequently, there is zero net force on the heart where the bare wire is in contact with the heart, leaving this portion of the wire stationary and eliminating risk of damage to the heart muscle.

Temporary pacing wire for use in cardiac surgery

Apparatus and method for removing dust and trash from tufts of opened cotton fiber stock includes entrance and exit ducts for airborne transport of the tufts to and from a housing having passages for the tufts therethrough, a screen disposed therein, a pair of counterrotating rollers with projecting pins for regulating passage of the tufts to the screen, a suction trough for causing high velocity impingements of the tufts against the screen for shaking cotton dust from the tufts and through the screen thereby forming a mat of tufts on the screen and passing air at a high velocity through the screen for removing cotton dust from the mat, and a moving paddle wheel for removal of the tufts from the screen disruptively of the mat and propelling the tufts in a tumbling floccular state farther through the passages toward the exit duct. The housing contains a plenum with a porous impact and filtration panel for receiving tufts from the entrance duct against the panel and directing the tufts toward the screen. A plurality of mats may be successively formed, removed, and propelled toward the exit for passing high velocity air through the tufts in a generally corresponding plurality of directions relative to each tuft to better suck dust therefrom.
