An insulation displacement contact (IDC) is capable of securely terminating wires having a wide range of diameters. The IDC is also designed to withstand repeated terminations of wires having diameters at the large end of the supported size range while remaining capable of securely terminating wires having diameters at the small end of the range. To these ends, the IDC comprises two or more distinct flex regions. At least one of the flex regions has an associated mechanical stop that limits the degree of deformation that can be applied to that region as a wire is being terminated on the IDC. If the diameter of the wire being terminated on the IDC is large enough to deflect the first flex region to the end of its deflection range, the mechanical stop is engaged, causing further deflection to be transferred to the next flex region.

Insulation displacement contact capable of securely terminating a wide range of electrical conductors

A cable connector is equipped with a torsion latching mechanism that offers a more positive retention within a jack and is less susceptible to accidental disengagement relative to cantilevered latches. The latching mechanism requires less displacement force to facilitate disengagement of the connector from the jack while maintaining a disengagement action that is familiar to users. The latching mechanism translates a downward pressure applied by the user to a torsion or twisting action that displaces the connector's latch and disengages the connector from the jack.

An electrical contact suitable for use within data connectivity applications in which both power and data are conveyed over the same pair of conductors is configured with a staggered profile geometry that isolates the location of high-current disconnects while maintaining a surface that remains free of electrical arcing and erosion. The electrical contact is designed with two points of contact, and the staggered geometry ensures that only one of the two points of contact is exposed to electrical arcing when the connector is disconnected while under power, thereby protecting the other point of contact from arc-related surface damage.

A paired simplex fiber optic connector assembly comprises a clip that holds two simplex LC connectors together to yield a duplex connector that can be plugged into a duplex adapter. In some embodiments, the two simplex connectors are held in place by rails formed on both sides of the clip. In other embodiments, a side arm is formed on each side of the clip, the side arm comprising a hub that extends from the clip and a non-circular flange formed on the end of the hub. The flange is configured to engage with channels formed on the sides of the simplex connectors, thereby holding the simplex connectors in place. The simplex connectors are attached to the clip by rotating the connectors about the flange, thereby engaging the channels with the flanges.

An exemplary embodiment of a device, configurable with various indicia of connectivity, and to be received by a data communication station is disclosed. The data communication station may include a frame having an aperture formed therein and a blank insert configured to be in registered alignment with the aperture. The blank insert may include a front facing surface configured to receive indicia thereon. The blank insert may include a retention feature configured to engage with an identification icon. In another embodiment, the data communication station may include a frame, a connector housing insert, and an identification icon configured to receive connectivity indicia thereon, wherein the connector housing insert may include a retention feature to engage with a corresponding retention feature on the identification icon. In another embodiment, a data communication station is configured to directly receive and retain an identification icon configured to receive connectivity indicia thereon.

A communication connector including elongated contacts, and an optional flexible compensation circuit. The elongated contacts include a plurality of contact pairs. Each pair includes first and second contacts configured to transmit a differential signal. The elongated contacts may each have first and second portions with first and second heights, respectively. The first height is greater than the second height. The first portion of the first contact is positioned alongside the first portion of the second contact to capacitively couple the first and second contacts together. The optional flexible compensation circuit includes compensation circuitry configured to at least partially reduce crosstalk between the elongated contacts.

Communication connector

A communication connector with a housing door pivotably coupled to a housing. The housing door is rotatable with respect to the housing between open and closed positions. The housing door is configured to be electrically connected to at least one grounding component of a cable. The housing has a door gripping portion. One of the housing door and the door gripping portion has a projection configured to engage another one of the housing door and the door gripping portion when the housing door is in the closed position. When so engaged, the projection is configured to electrically connect the housing door with the housing to thereby electrically connect the at least one grounding component with the housing.

An electronic device holder is provided. In one aspect, a strap or a back plate, such as a molded plastic strap, is provided to facilitate holding an electronic device. In another aspect, a device cradle is provided that can hold an electronic device and facilitate retention and management of associated device cables. In another aspect, the strap or back plate can comprise a set of connector stations that conform to a standardized form-factor, wherein the connector stations are adapted to accept a standardized insert.
