An antenna array includes planar top and bottom conductive covers. Radiating elements each comprising a tapered notch antenna formed on a metallized dielectric board are disposed between the covers. Conductive septums are interleaved with the radiating elements. The top and bottom covers together with the septums define enclosures that house each of the radiating elements. At least some of the antenna boards and septums are gradually curved to reorient the radiated energy towards desired geographic areas.

Compact antenna array for diversity applications

An improved tapered notch antenna configuration is provided. H-plane pattern directivity is achieved by splitting the planar tapered notch into two diverging surfaces to increase aperture dimension in that plane. A first embodiement describes a stripline feed approach where the ground plane conductors and attendant dielectric substrates diverge in the notch taper region. A second embodiment utilizes a conductor plane containing a notch and coplanar transmission line which is imbedded at half-depth within an essentially thin dielectric slab. The conductor plane and the dielectric slab separate into two equal but diverging conductive surfaces on separate dielectric substrates in the taper region. The improved tapered notch antenna, according to the invention, provides increased H-plane directivity, while retaining the prior art-features of feed compactness, low-cost, and repeatability.

Tapered notch antenna

A passive device is taught which diverts radio-frequency electromagnetic energy from an original path to a new path at a 90.degree. angle. The device eliminates the large reflective sheets which characterize prior art devices for the same purpose. The device utilizes a modified Yagii-Uda parasitic array to excite a cross-dipole element which reradiates the energy along the new direction. A particular application is shown for placing the device in or on a wall or the like for unobtrusive diversion of energy.

A transverse edge slot defined in the narrow wall of a rectangular waveguide with a first elongated conductor portion having one end attached to the narrow wall adjacent the slot and the second end extending inwardly generally perpendicular to the narrow wall and a second elongated conductor with one end connected to a broad wall and the free ends connected together to form a probe-loop feed.

A buoyant body having one end of a plurality of elongated electrically conductive spring members affixed thereto with the other end of the spring members attached to a movable member, which is in turn affixed to the body and movable with relation thereto, said movable member being held in a first or stored position and biased by the spring members to a second or erected position wherein the spring members define spaced apart arcuate portions of a sphere and are connected as elements of the antenna.
