A system and method for assessing the immunological status of one or more individuals in a patient population is presented. The method includes establishing a database comprising a plurality of records of information each representative of the immune status of an individual in the population, each of said records including (1) current information from one or more assays for the presence of a biochemical, and (2) individual specific information comprising one or more of said individual's medical history, said individual's doctors' observations and historical, demographic, lifestyle, and familial information relating to said individual. The method further includes processing the information in said database to find trends or patterns relating to the immune status of individuals in said patient population; and using the said trends or patterns as part of a health care related decision making process.

Electrode arrays have a plurality of electrodes. These arrays may have any combination of the following improvements. The arrays may have features that enable easier electrical connections and reduced bending stiffness by having a stop region and a torsion relief region, respectively. The arrays may have a shielding feature that may reduce electrical interference. The arrays may come in pairs that are designed to simplify measurements of electric signals of bilateral organs and tissues, such as eyes and ears.

Electrode arrays

A device providing an indication of eye disease in a patient comprises a light emitter; an optical assembly arranged so that light emitted from the light emitter reaches an eye of the patient; a camera arranged to image the eye of the patient; and a controller. The controller measures the eye's pupil area using images received from the camera and adjusts the luminance of the light emitted from the light emitter as a non-constant function of the eye's pupil area so as to create a plurality of stimulus intervals. At least two of the stimulus intervals differ in their average retinal illuminance. The controller analyzes the pupil measurements and/or an electrical response in at least two of the stimulus intervals to provide an indication of eye disease based. In some embodiments, the patient's age is also used in the analysis. Methods of using said device are also contemplated.

System and method for retinopathy detection

A diagnostic system is provided herein that includes an instrument comprising an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) detector, and a cartridge configured to fit within a portion of the instrument, wherein the cartridge includes at least one reagent including an ECL label and a blood collection holder. Also provided herein is a system that includes a diagnostic instrument, which includes a pump, an ECL detector, an incubator, a magnet, and an output device, and a cartridge configured to fit within a portion of the diagnostic instrument, a sample holder configured to fit within the cartridge, and a closed fluidic loop between the diagnostic instrument and the cartridge when the cartridge is fit within a portion of the diagnostic instrument, wherein the cartridge is configured to accept a sample from the sample holder and place the sample in fluidic communication with the diagnostic instrument via the closed fluidic loop.

Clinical diagnostic systems

To assess visual system function, a device monitors electrical response to a visual stimulus. Stimulus generation includes controlling the timing of component flashes comprising the visual stimulus and modulating the timing between the visual stimulus and other device operations, including image acquisition and infrared flashes. Other stimulus generation includes controlling retinal illumination for sinusoidal, triangular, and square stimuli as well as nonlinear adjustments of stimulus luminance as a function of pupil area. Ease of use improvements includes operation with electrode arrays. Error condition monitoring includes determining the presence of: an eye's pupil; impedance between electrodes that monitor the electrical response; and undesirable levels of external light.

Visual electrophysiology device

In embodiments disclosed herein, a diagnostic system is provided having a cartridge comprising at least one needle; at least one reservoir; at least one fluidic seal; and at least one fluidic channel of a fluidic pathway, wherein the cartridge is configured to store at least one reagent and at least one waste material on the cartridge. The diagnostic system is provided also having a diagnostic instrument comprising the fluidic pathway; an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) detection system; and a pump, wherein the fluidic pathway begins and ends in the cartridge and has a substantially single direction of flow in a pathway fluidically connecting the diagnostic instrument and the cartridge.
