Disclosed herein are silicone wax emulsions and methods of manufacturing the same. One method of manufacturing silicone wax emulsions as disclosed herein comprises charging alpha-olefins of C-18 or greater chain length to a heating and mixing vessel along with undecylenic acid and blocking the carboxylic acid of the undecylenic acid with a compound containing a trimethylsilyl group by adding the compound in sufficient quantity and heating as a melt until blocking is complete. While maintaining a melt temperature, a silicone polymer containing methyl hydrogen siloxy units is added, followed by a hydrosilation reaction catalyst to effect a hydrosilation reaction. This results in an acid functional silicone polymer. The acid functional silicone polymer is combined with an emulsifier, and the molten combination is added to a stirred solution of alkaline agent and water that has been heated to a temperature above the silicone wax melting point. This process produces silicone wax emulsions with excellent qualities.

Silicone wax emulsion and method of manufacture

Disclosed herein are methods for a simple process to make 3-aminoorgano functional silanes and siloxanes, free from isomers, by the use of commonly available materials. One embodiment of such a method comprises reacting aminoorgano functional silanes with hexamethyldisilazane in the presence of an acidic catalyst to produce a cyclic gamma-functional aminoorganic silane and beta isomers; separating the cyclic gamma-functional aminoorganic silane and the beta isomers; and converting the separated cyclic gamma-functional aminoorganic silane to pure gamma-aminoalkylsilane or pure aminoorganic siloxane. Also disclosed herein are cyclic derivatives of gamma-functional aminoorganic silanes.

A solid phase or form of carbon is based on fullerenes with thirty six carbon atoms (C). The Cstructure with Dsymmetry is one of the two most energetically favorable, and is conducive to forming a periodic system. The lowest energy crystal is a highly bonded network of hexagonal planes of Csubunits with AB stacking. The Csolid is not a purely van der Waals solid, but has covalent-like bonding, leading to a solid with enhanced structural rigidity. The solid Cmaterial is made by synthesizing and selecting out Cfullerenes in relatively large quantities. A Crich fullerene soot is produced in a helium environment arc discharge chamber by operating at an optimum helium pressure (400 torr). The Cis separated from the soot by a two step process. The soot is first treated with a first solvent, e.g. toluene, to remove the higher order fullerenes but leave the C. The soot is then treated with a second solvent, e.g. pyridine, which is more polarizable than the first solvent used for the larger fullerenes. The second solvent extracts the Cfrom the soot. Thin films and powders can then be produced from the extracted C. Other materials are based on Cfullerenes, providing for different properties.

A method of preparing an alkoxysilane and a silicone resin includes the steps of combining a siloxane A having a first boiling point with a catalyst in a reaction vessel. A tri or tetra alkoxy functional silane monomer B is added to the vessel having a second boiling point. The contents of the vessel are heated. By a rearrangement reaction, an alkoxysilane is distilled from the vessel. The alkoxysilane has a boiling point which is lower than the mixture of the boiling points of the siloxane A, the silane monomer B and the temperature of the heated vessel. A silicone resin having alkoxy functionality and no silanol functionality is recovered from the vessel.

Method of preparing alkoxy silane and a silicone containing resin

A method of preparing an organo-alkoxy substituted silicone resin including the steps of reacting an organo-silicone resin containing hydroxy terminated functional groups with an alkoxy silane in the presence of catalytic amounts of a titanate compound and incubating the mixture to derive the organo-alkoxy substituted silicone product and an hydroxylated biproduct. The organo-alkoxy substituted silicone product may be reacted with a hydroxy functional fluid in the presence of catalytic amounts of a titanate compound to derive a non-transferable, semipermanent release agent.

Aminofunctional polysiloxane compounds and method of preparation therefor

A mercapto-functional silicone fluid is prepared by hydrolyzing a mercapto-silane and an organosilane, with a weak acid. The hydrolyzate is, then, reacted in the presence of an acid with a mixture of an end-blocking polyalkylpolysiloxane and a chain-extender which is either a cyclic polysiloxane or an alkyl-terminated or hydroxy-terminated silicone fluid.
