An electrochemical cell comprises a chamber, an inlet port, an outlet port, an electrode port, and a counter electrode. The inlet port is configured to allow flow of a liquid into the chamber and through an inlet opening toward the working electrode, and the outlet port is configured to allow flow of a liquid out of the chamber and through an outlet opening. The device is configured so that a force applied to the working electrode slides the first end face of the working electrode to a distance from a face of the inlet opening due to the balancing force of a fluid flowing out of the inlet opening. The device may be used in a method for analyzing an analyte, such as one or more amino acids in a liquid sample.

Electrochemical cell configured to have a dynamically renewed electrode

A permeative amine/acid introduction device (PAID) is placed after a conventional KOH eluent suppressed conductometric anion chromatography (SCAC) system. The PAID converts the suppressed eluites from the acid form to the corresponding salt. For example, when the analytes are acids, they are converted to the corresponding ammonium salt (NRH+HX&#x2192;NRH+X) and allows very weak acids HX (pK&#x2265;7.0) that cannot normally be detected by SCAC to be measured by a second conductivity detector following the PAID. Permeative reagent introduction is dilutionless, can be operated without pumps and provides good mixing with low band dispersion (as small as 30 &#x3bc;L). An exemplary amine is diethylamine (DEA), which was chosen as the amine source due to its low pKvalue (pK3.0), high vapor pressure, and low toxicity and low odor.

Ion chromatography system and methods utilizing a weak acid or weak base extraction device

There is provided a system for performing a chromatographic separation of an analyte, methods of using the system to separate at least one component of an analyte and an eluent generator of use in the system. An exemplary system comprises: (a) an eluent generator comprising: (i) a housing configured to be pressurizable by gas, comprising an annular void defined by the housing, and a gas inlet for the gas and a gas outlet for the gas in fluid communication with the annular void; (ii) a membrane permeable to the gas defining an eluent flow channel disposed within the annular void, the eluent flow channel having an eluent precursor fluid inlet and an eluent outlet; (iii) a source of gas in fluidic communication with the gas inlet; (iv) a source of the eluent precursor fluid; and (b) a chromatography column disposed downstream of and in fluidic communication with the eluent outlet.

Volatile eluent preparation

An interface circuit and method are described, in which the interface circuit includes a plurality of bi-directional buffers and logic, responsive to a read request from a system component, configured to identify whether the requested data presently resides in the plurality of bi-directional buffers and is destined to be written from the bi-directional buffers to an external memory, wherein the logic is further configured to supply that data from the bi-directional buffers to the requesting system component, without first writing that data to the external memory.

Memory interface circuit and method

This disclosure generally relates to a processor configured to access an element in a data structure. The processor includes an element in a data structure having an array, an index, and a base address. A fractional shifter is also included and is configured to shift the index value up to three bit places, and output a byte offset. An adder is configured to add the byte offset with the base address and output a final address. Further included is a general purpose shifter that is configured to rotate left and right, and shift left and right. A selector is configured to select either the final address or an output signal from the general purpose shifter.
