An apparatus includes a pair of connectors and two or more conductive paths formed in each connector in the pair of connectors. The pair of connectors includes a first connector and a second connector. The first connector is substantially more flexible than the second connector, and each connector in the pair of connectors includes a bulkhead. Each of the two or more conductive paths in each connector in the pair of connectors is electrically isolated from all other conductive elements in the respective connector. A shroud may be located between the bulkheads and disposed about the pair of connectors when the pair of connectors are coupled together electrically.

Apparatus having a connector with isolated conductive paths

A method and compositions are described which improve extrusion-and creep-resistance of components for use in a high temperature applications including sealing elements and seal connectors among others. The method includes providing a composition having an aromatic polymer and a crosslinking compound, and subjecting the composition to a heat molding process to form the component and crosslink the aromatic polymer.

Anti-extrusion compositions for sealing and wear components

A method and compositions are described which improve extrusion- and creep-resistance of components for use in a high temperature applications including sealing elements and seal connectors among others. The method includes providing a composition having an aromatic polymer and a crosslinking compound, and subjecting the composition to a heat molding process to form the component and crosslink the aromatic polymer.

An apparatus includes a pair of connectors, two or more conductive paths formed in each connector in the pair of connectors, and a shroud encompassing at least a portion of the pair of connectors. The pair of connectors includes a first connector and a second connector. A flexible member can be secured in the groove and solder can be flowed into the flexible member in the groove. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Method of forming connector with isolated conductive paths

A method of forming a connector with isolated conductive paths can include using a flexible member. An example of a method of forming a connector with isolated conductive paths can include forming a bulkhead assembly including two-or-more isolated bulkhead conductive paths. A non-bulkhead assembly can be formed including two-or-more isolated non-bulkhead conductive paths. A flexible coupling can be formed between each of the two-or-more isolated bulkhead conductive paths and each of the two-or-more isolated non-bulkhead conductive paths to form a flexible connector. Another example method can include assembling, at least partially, a connector having a groove, securing a flexible member in the groove, and flowing solder into the flexible member in the groove. Additional methods and associated apparatus and systems are disclosed.

Connector including isolated conductive paths

A glass-to-meal seal for use in high temperature and high pressure environments is described. The glass-to-metal seals includes an optical fiber having a metallized portion, the metallized portion having an outer dimension; an object having a high strength, corrosion-resistant alloy, the object having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a bore, the bore having a dimension larger than the outer dimension of the metallized portion of the optical fiber; and a hardened solder material disposed between the metallized portion of the optical fiber and the inner surface of the bore, such that a hermetic seal is provided between the metallized portion of the optical fiber and the inner surface of the bore; wherein the solder includes a substance having a melting temperature greater than about 250&#xb0; C.

High-pressure/high-temperature seals between glass fibers and metals, downhole optical feedthroughs containing the same, and methods of preparing such seals

A hermetic pressure connector which provides a pressure-tight, electrically conductive connection through a hole in a bulkhead. The connector includes a transverse support member having a high pressure side and an opposite low pressure side. A passage extends through the transverse support member between the opposite sides. A conductor pin having an axial portion extends through the passage. An insulating sleeve surrounds at least the axial portion of the conductor pin, thereby electrically insulating the transverse support member from the conductor pin. A molded connected body surrounds at least a central portion of the conductor pin at least at one of the high and low pressure sides to thereby mechanically support the conductor pin in the passage. The molded connector body is directly sealingly engaged with the conductor pin, the insulating sleeve and the transverse support member. The insulating sleeve may be formed as a two-piece insert that includes a ceramic piece on the high pressure side and a piece formed of polymeric material on the low pressure side.

Hermetic electrical connector

A hermetic pressure connector which provides a pressure-tight, electrically conductive connection through a hole in a bulkhead. The connector includes a transverse support member having a high pressure side and an opposite low pressure side. A passage extends through the transverse support member between the opposite sides. A conductor pin having an axial portion extends through the passage. An insulating sleeve surrounds at least the axial portion of the conductor pin, thereby electrically insulating the transverse support member from the conductor pin. A molded connected body surrounds at least a central portion of the conductor pin at least at one of the high and low pressure sides to thereby mechanically support the conductor pin in the passage. The molded connector body is directly sealingly engaged with the conductor pin, the insulating sleeve and the transverse support member.

A hermetic pressure connector for providing a pressure-tight, electrically-conductive connection through a hole in a bulkhead. The connector includes a transverse support member having a passage therethrough. A conductor pin extends through the passage. A molded body surrounds at least a central portion of the pin and electrically insulates the transverse support member from the pin and the pin from the bulkhead. The molded body is directly sealingly engaged to the conductor pin. A method of making a hermetic pressure connector for providing a pressure-tight, electrically-conductive connection through a hole in a bulkhead. The method includes placing a conductor pin into a passage in a transverse support member and positioning the conductor pin and transverse support member within an injection mold having the desired finished shape of the molded body. The positioning is such that the conductor pin is spaced from the transverse support member. The method also includes injecting a polymeric material into the injection mold for creating a molded body which surrounds the conductor pin and electrically insulates the conductor pin from the transverse support member. The molded body, conductor pin and transverse support member are removed from the injection mold.
