In one embodiment a tin oxide based electrode is disclosed. The tin oxide-based electrode includes a base material of tin oxide, a resistivity modifier, a sintering aid, and a corrosion inhibitor. The corrosion inhibitor forms a solid solution with the base material and has a melting point not less than about 1700&#xb0; C. and a partial pressure of not greater than about 1.0E-7 atmospheres at 1500&#xb0; C. The corrosion inhibitor further includes 0-4.0 wt % ZrObased on the total weight of the composition.

Tin oxide-based electrodes having improved corrosion resistance

The inventive sintered product is produced from an initial feedstock having a zirconium content ranging from 75 to 99% and the following average chemical weight composition, in percentage by weight, based on oxides: 60%=ZrO+HfO=75%, 27%=SiO=34%, 0.2=TiO2=1.5 %, 0.3&#x3c;YO3=3.5 %, other oxides: =1%, to give a total of 100%. Said product can be used for glassworks.
