A smart card includes a plurality of display devices on an outside surface of a housing. Circuitry within the housing includes a processor, and communication circuitry configured to communicate with at least one computing device located within a geographic region around the smart card. The processor is configured to continuously receive a plurality of communication signals from the computing device, to continuously assess a geographic distance from the smart card to the fixed position of the computing device within the geographic region using the plurality of communication signals, to continuously activate or deactivate the plurality of display devices based on the geographic distance from the smart card to the fixed position of the computing device in the geographic region for providing a user with a directional indication, distance indication, or both, to the computing device in the geographic region.

A drive system for a hybrid hydraulic vehicle. The drive system includes an engine, a hydraulic pump driven by the engine, a converter coupled to the pump, a drive train coupled to the converter a first hydraulic pathway coupling the hydraulic pump to the converter, a second hydraulic pathway coupling the hydraulic pump to the converter, a reservoir positioned in the second hydraulic pathway, an accumulator positioned in the first hydraulic pathway, a pressure sensor configured to sense the pressure of hydraulic fluid in the accumulator, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive an indication of the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the accumulator from the pressure sensor, and to adjust a low pressure level threshold of the pressure of hydraulic fluid in the accumulator based on the operation of the vehicle such that the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the accumulator reaches a predetermined target pressure when the vehicle brakes.

Hybrid hydraulic vehicle drive system

A computer-based processing system (e.g., host server) is operable for receiving historical device operation information (power consumption data) collected during operation of the remote battery-operated device in accordance with a first set of operating parameters. The first set of operating parameters enable operation of the battery-operated device in a first operating mode. The processing system calculates an observed battery life for the device based on the received historical power consumption data and a power capacity value representing a power capacity of the battery resident in the device. This observed battery life may be output to a user and used to determine whether the device will meet a predetermined operational life. If not, parameters for the device can be modified and a new projected battery life calculated (simulation), with the new modified parameters controlling power consumption in the device.

Methods and apparatus for modeling, monitoring, simulating and controlling power consumption in battery-operated devices

A remote battery-operated device operates in accordance with a first set of operating parameters. During operation, power consumption information is generated and transmitted via a data network to a remote location for later use. In one embodiment, the remote location transmits one or more modified parameters back to the battery-operated device which control subsequent operation of the device. In this manner, power consumption within the device may be controlled to achieve a predetermined or desired operating lifetime.

A method and apparatus for determining the burst bit rate for data in the transport layer of a network is described. The burst bit rate is determined by measuring the time for a total number of bytes to be transferred across a point in the network and adding that time to an estimated network delay. The total number of bytes transferred is then divided by the transfer time plus the estimated network delay thereby calculating the burst bit rate for the transfer.

A simplified installation method is provided in this improved insulation seal for inspection holes. The sealing assembly consists of a compressible elastomeric flanged hollow sleeve which is first inserted into the inspection hole. A rigid metal cup-shaped plug then inserted into the sleeve forms tight weatherproof seals in downward and outward directions against the insulation jacket. No special installing tools are needed and the seal is adaptable to severely corrugated, or other non-flat, insulation jackets. Primary exposure of the metal plug protects the assembly against sand blasting and other external wear. The seal is easily removed for reuse upon later inspections.
