Disclosed is a handheld control device (HCD) for remotely operating molded case circuit breakers. The HCD has an engagement fixture with a rectangular aperture for capturing a circuit breaker handle of a molded case circuit breaker. The fixture is attached to a central part of an actuating short arm. The actuating short arm is attached perpendicularly and pivotally to an elongated long arm that is of sufficient distance to protect an operator from hazardous arcing. Right and left elongated actuating members (e.g., rods, cables) extend along the long arm and attach to respective end portions of the actuating short arm. In one embodiment, a pivot handle manually moves the elongated actuating members to move the actuating short arm and consequently the fixture and handle. In another embodiment, a motor is controlled to move the elongated actuating members to move the actuating short arm and consequently the fixture and handle.

Handheld control device to mechanically operate molded case circuit breakers from a distance

A portable motorized racking device and system are disclosed for remotely racking (inserting or removing) drawout circuit breakers. The racking device provides a portable, motorized device that can be hand carried to a work location and affixed to the circuit breaker without the need of any modification to the breaker or its enclosure. In one embodiment, among others, the torque that is required to operate the breaker racking mechanism is provided by an electrically powered gearmotor. Attached to the output shaft of the gearmotor is a socket that engages the circuit breaker racking screw. An anti-rotation plate engages a feature, such as a bolt head, opening, hole, or edge, on the racking screw support frame or the breaker face to prevent the gearmotor from rotating while the socket rotates the racking screw.

Portable racking system and device for drawout power circuit breakers

A mounting device enables detachable mounting of equipment against a face of a motor control center (MCC) unit. The face of the MCC unit has a plurality of protruding ports and an operating switch extending outwardly from the face. The protruding ports are designed to enable installation and removal of the MCC unit from a housing. The operating switch is designed to enable switching of electrical power within the MCC unit. The mounting device has a plate or bracket, a mechanism for attaching and un-attaching the plate or bracket to at least one of the protruding ports, and screw holes or other features to enable mounting of equipment to enable the equipment to engage the protruding ports, the operating switch, or both.

Disclosed are various embodiments for racking a draw-out circuit breaker. A portable motorized racking device may be connected or disconnected from an racking assembly of the circuit breaker. The portable racking device includes a gearmotor, a drive socket for engaging with the racking screw of the circuit breaker, and a locking disk for securing the portable racking device to the racking assembly of the circuit breaker. The gearmotor may be remotely controlled to rack the draw-out circuit breaker.

A portable actuator system enables the remote operation of electrical disconnect switches with a portable actuator device that is temporarily installed at the disconnect switch location. An embodiment, among others, of the portable actuator device has an electric motor having a drive shaft that can be controlled to rotate about a longitudinal axis. The actuator device also has elongated movable first and second arms that are controlled by the drive shaft. The first arm engages and moves the disconnect handle in a first rotational direction so that the disconnect handle is switched to the open position. The second arm engages and moves the disconnect handle in a second rotational direction so that the disconnect handle is switched to the closed position.

Portable actuator device and system for remotely operating electrical disconnect switches

A portable motorized device for remotely inserting or removing (racking) draw-out power circuit breakers. Many different designs of draw-out circuit breakers may be connected or disconnected from an energized bus by a human operator cranking a jack screw mechanism that is part of the breaker. The device herein described provides a portable, motorized device that can be hand-carried to the work location and affixed to the circuit breaker without the need of any modification to the breaker or its enclosure. The torque that is required to operate the breaker's racking mechanism is provided by an electrically powered gear motor. Attached to the output shaft of the gear motor is a socket that engages the circuit breaker racking screw. Anti-torque is provided by a portion of the portable racking device that engages the racking screw support frame.

A portable actuator assembly for remotely operating the control components on a circuit breaker which self-aligns by engaging a recessed area of the circuit breaker. The portable actuator assembly is easily and accurately aligned with the control components on the circuit breaker by an alignment fixture that engages the recessed area of the circuit breaker. The alignment fixture is moveable along one axis that lies perpendicular to the face of the circuit breaker in order to compensate for variations between the plane of the face of the circuit breaker and the plane of the sheet metal enclosure surrounding the circuit breaker. The alignment fixture is forced toward the face of the breaker by spring action to ensure it remains in constant contact with the circuit breaker. Strong magnets may hold the portable actuator assembly against the circuit breaker by attaching to the sheet metal enclosure surrounding the circuit breaker.

Disclosed are various embodiments for a portable actuator for actuating a trip button and a close button of a circuit breaker. In one embodiment, the trip button is actuated by a linear actuator that transmits rotation forces produced by a motor to the trip button in response to a trip signal. The close button is actuated by a rotating arm that uses an anti-friction roller to apply a rotating motion to the close button in response to a close signal. The portable actuator is configured to receive the input signals from a remote location with a remote controller that is in electronic communication with the portable actuator.
