A flexible bladder is enclosed within a plurality of overlapping plastic sheets, with the ends of the sheets being secured in place by the weight of the flexible bladder, when filled. The preferred plastic is an extruded, twin-walled, fluted plastic based upon a polypropylene copolymer. In a alternative embodiment, a pair of hexagonal, coaxial sleeves of the preferred plastic have an internal bladder for shipping materials. With both embodiments, hot chocolate is pumped into the bladder and cooled, in situ, to stop the chocolate from cooking further. The container is shipped, and then the chocolate is heated to facilitate pumping the chocolate out of the container. The cooling and heating processes involve the use of a heat exchange pad located between the bladder and the inner sleeve.

A steel-bodied shipping container having two lockable doors, and at one of its ends has an insulation pad positioned on its floor. A heat exchanger pad having a hot water/steam hose embodied therein is positioned on top of the insulation pad, with the inlet/outlet ends of the hose positioned near a first of the ends doors. A flexible bladder positioned on top of the heat exchanger pad, is pumped full of a material. The first door is locked and the shipping container shipped. At destination, hot water or steam is pumped through the heat exchanger pad to raise the temperature of the material within the flexible bladder, after which the material is pumped out of the flexible bladder.

Flat, rectangular composite insulation comprising two dissimilar insulating materials on a separate flexible backing material is described. At least one of the two dissimilar materials is rigid. V-grooves are formed in the dissimilar materials extending from the surface of the insulation opposite of the flexible backing up to, but not through the flexible backing. The V-grooving permits the rigid composite insulation to be fitted to a curved surface such as a pipe.
