Readings of odorous air concentration or strength are taken at various locations in the vicinity of a site being monitored for odorous air and are entered into an electronic database and electronically combined with a map of the vicinity of the site to produce a visual pattern of the odorous air with respect to the site. Readings may further include meteorological data, odor descriptors, time and date, and the like and some of the readings may be transformed into symbolic form for visual display on the map. Preferably the map is an Internet accessible on-line map.

Odor inspection system

A portable olfactometer for sensing and measuring odors by sniffing has a barrel which carries selectively different D/T ratios of odorous air to a nose mask and has a selective set of inserts for providing different D/T ratios at the input to the barrel.

Portable odor detecting and measuring device

Odors are detected and/or recognized by aspirating samples of odors and odorless air mutually exclusively into an aspirating input of a venturi mixing nozzle along with operating or dilution air and having an assessor or panelist sniff the output of the venturi to determine the presence or absence of odor and to identify an odor, if present. The dilution ratio for each sample tested is changed by feeding the sample odor, or odorless air, to the venturi selectively through branches having different sized restrictive orifices thereby obtaining a wide range of dilution ratios for a particular odor. The different branches are selected by electrically operated solenoid valves which are programmably activated by a programmable logic controller (PLC) as the assessor successively tests each sample. For each sample, the assessor makes three sniffing tests by operating a three position rotary switch before making a selection or decision as to the presence and/or recognition of an odor.

Odor detecting apparatus and method

An apparatus for treating waste water includes a revolvable disc assembly partially submerged in a tank containing waste water. The disc assembly includes a plurality of similar lightweight nonmetallic discs, each disc comprising a plurality of similar disc sections. Adjacent discs of the disc assembly engage each other and each disc has a surface configuration that cooperates with the surface configuration of the next adjacent disc to define a plurality of concentric passages between the discs. A plurality of elongate rigid rods secure the disc through yieldable joints to a pair of circular end support members and to circular intermediate support members.
