A cash drawer having a coin roll opening device for opening a roll of coins quickly, conveniently and safely. The device includes a cash drawer having guides for receiving a coin roll. The cash drawer further includes a receptacle for receiving a blade assembly. The blade assembly having a blade and a blade holder. The blade assembly easily inserted and removed from the receptacle by use of the flexible arms of the blade holder. The blade holder is formed by two identical halves each having a male post, a post slot, a snap post and a snap arm for securing the blade. The blade having notches for receiving the male posts.

Coin roll opening device

An electronic equipment drawer 20 is aligned with an electrical connector in a tunnel in the horizontal and vertical directions with alignment pins and holes. A screw drive 34 and cam 36 mounted on the drawer engages a tunnel wall and controls insertion into the tunnel to provide proper electrical contact and lock the drawer in place in the tunnel. A bus extender card 25 inserted in a connector 26 centrally located on a mother board 21 is supported by surfaces on a bar 28 extending between end walls 24 of the drawer. The end walls 24 include pairs of channels 31 on opposed walls which support feature cards inserted into connectors mounted on the bus extender card 25.

Serviceable data terminal structure

An electronic equipment drawer is aligned with an electrical connector in a tunnel in the horizontal and vertical directions with alignment pins and holes. A screw drive and cam mounted on the drawer engages a surface of an opening in a wall of the tunnel and controls insertion into the tunnel to provide proper electrical contact and lock the drawer in place in the tunnel. Within the drawer a bus extender card inserted in a connector centrally located on a mother board is supported by surfaces on a bar extending between end walls of the drawer. The end walls include pairs of channels on opposed walls which support feature cards inserted into connectors mounted on the bus extender card.

Printers and copiers have paper handling mechanisms that incorporate form feeding tractors to move a continuous form or web having edge holes. It has been discovered that the web can be driven at a high acceleration yet uses a small number of pins by setting the pin pitch of the tractor greater than the pitch of the edge holes.

Forms feed tractor having modified pin spacing

A compact shuttling printer mechanism suitable for use with dot forming print elements is disclosed. A single part plastic molding forms the frame and shuttling suspension for the print head or heads. The design utilizes a compound cantilevered spring principle. A linear reciprocable drive element acting as close as possible through the center of percussion of the print head and suspension assembly reciprocates the print head back and forth along a desired print line adjacent to a platen. Means for incrementing paper at the end of each reciprocation or stroke are provided. The design is adapted to provide print line visibility so that printed characters may be seen as they are formed. The reciprocation drive operates without orthogonal forces. It provides a purely linear drive force so that the machine is free of unwanted vibrations in other planes or axes. The unitary molded plastic compound cantilever spring and frame assembly greatly reduces the size, cost and complexity of the printing mechanism. A unique advantage of the cantilevered spring suspension system is the air motion provided from the flexing of the cantilever spring elements. The air motion may be used for cooling electronics and logic housed in conjunction with the printer operation function.

Compact shuttle printer mechanism

An improved, disposable inexpensive feed mechanism is uniquely incorporated in a cassette having a flexible or movable wall driven by contact with a moving printer carriage or the like. Friction facing of the moving wall cooperates with a fixed friction facing on an interiorly placed portion of a cassette wall with a ribbon between the two friction faces. The friction facing of the movable part has angled fiber elements that engage the ribbon in one direction but slip easily over the ribbon in the opposite direction. The moving printer carriage or the like contacts a movable portion of the cassette wall in each pass and indexes the ribbon slightly to provide a fresh supply across a platen. The platen may be integrally molded as a part of the cassette and can be made of plastic. The entire mechanism is disposable, is contained in a single clean package and is very low cost. No rollers, feed roll drives or motors are required.

Printer ribbon cassette and feed mechanism

A shuttling printer mechanism suitable for use with dot forming print elements is disclosed. A mechanical linear reciprocable drive apparatus acting as close as possible through the center of percussion of the print head and suspension assembly reciprocates the print head back and forth along a desired print line adjacent to a platen. The drive apparatus utilizes a unique non-circular gear arrangement. The suspension and frame design is adapted to provide print line visibility so that printed characters may be seen as they are formed. The reciprocation drive operates without orthogonal forces. It provides a purely linear drive force so that the machine is free of unwanted vibrations in other planes or axes.
