A high temperature electrical connector, which may be used to connect a temperature sensor mounted in a combustion chamber of an automotive engine to a cable. The connector has a housing made of high temperature material, such as alumina ceramic. Connector terminals may be retained within the housing but may float relative to the housing, to reduce stresses associated with differential thermal expansion of the housing and terminals and reduce transmission of vibration and resultant degradation of connector performance. Compliant portions may extend from an intermediate portion of the terminals to make contact with pads on a sensor substrate inserted into the connector. The terminals may be retained with an end cap, secured to the housing. Retention of the terminals may be aided by pockets in the housing that receive tips of the terminals. Channels, receiving the intermediate portions of the terminals, may open into the pockets.

Fully assembled high temperature connector

A sealable FFC connector includes a housing, a plurality of contacts, a sealing member, and an actuator. The housing includes a slot configured to receive a mating component. The contacts are held in the housing and are configured to be in electrical contact with the mating component when the mating component is in a mated position in the slot. The sealing member includes at least a portion supported by the housing. The actuator is coupled to the housing and is movable from an opened position, in which the mating component may be inserted in the slot, to a closed position, in which a biasing force is applied on the sealing member such that, when the mating component is in the mated position in the slot, the sealing member provides a seal to prevent moisture and debris from entering the slot.

Sealed FFC electrical connectors

An interconnection system that is safe, reliable and compact. Mating connectors include complementary projections. Terminals in each connector have opposed beams, with portions of the beams of each terminal embedded in adjacent projections. In mating connectors, the terminals are oriented 90 degrees with respect to each other, such that the terminals of one connector fit between beams of the other. Two beams of each terminal press on opposing sides of a mating terminal, creating four points of contact, for reliable operation. The projections extend beyond the distal tips of the terminals and preclude accidental contact between the terminals and a human finger. Contact force may be controlled by altering the shape of openings cut in the terminals near the base of the beams, enabling the terminals to be formed simply by stamping a sheet of metal and further enabling the beams to be short to provide a compact connector.

Safe, robust, compact connector

An electrical cable assembly includes a plurality of electrical cables, and a plurality of interposers configured to be mounted to a substrate at a first end, and mounted to electrical conductors of the electrical cables at a second end that is offset from the first end. The electrical cable assembly further includes an alignment housing that supports the interposers, and further defines a conduit to receive the drain wires of the electrical cables that are mounted to the substrate.

Embodiments of an electrical connector assembly are disclosed. The electrical connector assembly can include an electrical connector having a connector housing and a leadframe supported by the connector housing. The leadframe includes an electrically conductive ground plate that includes a drain wire connection tabs that can attach to drain wires of respective electrical cables. The electrical connector assembly can further include a cable clip that supports the plurality of cables. The electrical connector assembly can further include a cable guide that directs the plurality of cables of cables through the cable clip along a desired direction.

Electrical cables are described having strands of fibers of wire that are fused together at their ends to facilitate attachment to a respective mating member and mounting member.

Cable for electrical power connection

In accordance with an embodiment, an electrical cable can be configured to electrically connect to contact pads that are carried by a substrate. The electrical cable can include at least one, such as a pair, of electrical signal conductors and at least one, for instance a pair, of electrically conductive drain wires. A drain wire in the electrical cable can define a first surface that is configured to face the substrate and a second surface that is opposite the first surface. The drain wire can define a height that is greater than 0.2 mm as measured from the first surface to the second surface along a straight line.

In accordance with an embodiment, an electrical cable can be configured to electrically connect to contact pads that are carried by a substrate. The electrical cable can include at least one, such as a pair, of electrical signal conductors and at least one, for instance a pair, of electrically conductive drain wires. A drain wire in the electrical cable can define a first surface that is configured to face the signal conductors and a second surface that is opposite the first surface. The drain wire can define a width that is greater than 0.12 mm as measured from the first surface to the second surface along a straight line. At least one auxiliary wire can be attached to at least one drain wire. The auxiliary wire can be configured to attach to the substrate.

An interposer is configured to receive signal conductors of a cable, and align the received signal conductors with contact pads of an electrical connector. The interposer can be dielectric, or electrically insulative, so as to reduce electrical signal reflections and help to prevent electrical shorting between the signal conductors.

A retention housing having a housing body is provided, the retention housing configured to be mounted to a substrate. At least one, such as a plurality of cables can be electrically connected to a respective surface of the substrate to which the retention housing is mounted. When the retention housing is mounted to the respective surface of the substrate, at least a portion of the at least one cable can be compressed between a ground element supported by the respective surface of the substrate and a corresponding upper wall of the housing body, such that the at least one cable is placed into electrical communication with a ground plane defined by the substrate.

A method is provided for mounting a plurality of cable connectors onto a panel that defines a plurality of target mounting locations. At least two of the plurality of cable connectors defines at least a pair of cable retaining apertures. The pairs of cable retaining apertures of a first one of the two cable connectors are spaced apart in a first direction, and the pair of cable retaining apertures of a second one of the two cable connectors are spaced apart in a second direction that is different than the first direction.

Method and apparatus for mounting a cable connector onto a panel

Electrical assemblies including various complementary electrical components and plurality of cables are provided. Components of the electrical assemblies are configured such that respective signal conductor ends of the plurality of electrical cables can be isolated from one another and placed in electrical communication with the complementary electrical components using a conductive material. In accordance with some embodiments, the electrical assemblies include organizers that define respective pluralities of cavities and are configured to be attached to the complementary electrical components. In accordance with another embodiment, a leadframe assembly can define a plurality of cavities. The cavities of each of the pluralities of cavities are isolated from each other such that respective signal conductor ends of the plurality of electrical cables can be inserted into respective ones of the pluralities of cavities and placed into electrical communication with the respective complementary electrical components by filling the cavities with conductive material.

Method for mounting a cable connector onto a panel

An optical fiber cable connector including a first member and a second member. The first member has a channel for an optical fiber of an optical fiber cable, and an outer surface configured to have a strength member of the cable located thereon. The second member is configured to slide on top of the first member. The second member includes a barrel section configured to be compressed onto the first member and a gripping section made of a resiliently deformable material which is sized and shaped to pull the strength member along the outer surface of the first member as the second member is slid on top of the first member.
