Systems and methods of a container having a tack welded fin seal. The container may include a film, a tack weld joining a first outer portion of a first edge and a second outer portion of the first edge, and a fin seal joining a first inner portion of the first edge of the film and a second inner portion of a second edge of the film. The container may include a faceplate integrally molded to an outer layer of a first end portion of the film. The faceplate may include substantially the same composition as an outer layer of the first end portion, such that no distinct layers are formed between the faceplate and the film. The tack weld may be formed at a tack welding system, and the fin seal may be formed at a fin sealing system having a mandrel.

Tack welded fin seal

A compressible cartridge includes a first flexible bag, a second flexible bag, and a rigid face plate. The first and second flexible bags include a multilayer film having at least three layers formed from different materials. The first and second flexible bags have a front end and a sealed back end opposite the front end. The first flexible bag defines a first volume to receive a first flowable material. The second flexible bag defines a second volume to receive a second flowable material that is different from the first flowable material. The rigid face plate has a first collar, a second collar, and a nosepiece. The first collar is bonded to the front end of the first flexible bag, and the second collar is bonded to the front end of the second flexible bag. The nosepiece defines 1) a first opening that is in fluid communication with the first volume of the first flexible bag, 2) a second opening that is in fluid communication with the second volume of the second flexible bag, and 3) a discharge opening.

Component delivery system utilizing film bags

A cartridge for a medium to be dispensed is disclosed. The cartridge includes a head part having a dispensing outlet, and a film forming a cartridge wall. The film bounds a cartridge chamber for the medium to be dispensed, and extends at least partially in a longitudinal direction of the cartridge. The film has a front end that is connected to the head part. The is a multilayer film having at least two layers formed from different materials. The front end of the film is sealingly and non-releasably embedded in the head part of the cartridge, such that an end face of the front end of the film is covered by the head part. A method of manufacturing a cartridge having a head part using a mold is also disclosed.

A dispensing apparatus includes two cylindrical sleeves, two flexible film pack bags disposed within the sleeves, the two film pack bags having an integrally formed rigid face plate bonded therewith, the face plate having a discharge nosepiece integrally formed therewith, the discharge nosepiece having a partition internally configured to maintain separate flow streams from the film pack bags. Two shuttles are slidingly disposed in the sleeves. Push rods are disposed in operable communication with the shuttles. At least one piston is disposed in operable communication with the push rods, the piston configured to drive the push rods. A holder is disposed proximate a front end of the sleeves, the holder configured to restrain the face plate during dispensing of a flowable material. A mixer is configured to be in fluid communication with flow streams from the film pack bags. A material applicator is disposed in fluid communication with the mixer.

A dispensing apparatus includes two cylindrical sleeves, two shuttles slidingly disposed in the sleeves, push rods disposed in operable communication with the shuttles, and a piston, driven by pressurized gas, disposed in operable communication with the push rods. The cylindrical sleeves receive film pack bags having a common face plate that has an integrally formed discharge nosepiece having an internal partition that maintains separate flow streams from the film pack bags. A holder is disposed proximate a front end of the sleeves and configured to restrain the face plate during dispensing. A mixer is disposed in fluid communication with the film pack bags. A material applicator is disposed in fluid communication with the mixer. A first flexible tube is disposed upstream of and in fluid communication with the mixer. A second flexible tube is disposed in fluid communication with the material applicator for supplying atomization air to the material applicator.

A piston has a one-piece body having a first portion and a second portion. The second portion is integrally formed with the first portion, is flexibly movable between a first position and a second position relative to the first portion, and is biased toward the first position. The first portion has an orifice, and the second portion has a seal member. When the second portion is disposed in the first position, the seal member is disposed in a sealed arrangement with the orifice, and when the second portion is disposed in the second position, the seal member is disposed in an unsealed arrangement with the orifice.

One-piece ventable piston for a dispensing apparatus, a dispensing apparatus with same, and method of making same

A dispenser includes a container providing a cavity and a discharge opening at one end. A piston in the cavity has a peripheral wall portion sealing against the inner wall of the container and a centrally disposed passage therethrough. A sealing plug of resiliently deformable material is seated in the passage and has a peripheral flange about the front end adjacent the discharge opening. The flange bears upon the surface of the front wall of the piston about the passage to effect a seal therebetween. A filler push rod bears upon the surface of the sealing plug is movable to move the flange of the plug away from the surface of the piston to allow air to vent through the passage about the periphery of the plug.

Venting seal for dispenser

In one preferred embodiment, a body for a dual barreled syringe, said body including: two, parallel, cylindrical, hollow, cojoined, barrels having, respectively, open filling ends and closed discharge ends from which discharge ends axially extend discharge nozzles; and sealing apparatus, closing the discharge ends, formed monolithically with and sealing distal ends of the discharge nozzles, the sealing apparatus being manually severable from the distal ends of the discharge nozzles so as to open the discharge nozzles to permit the discharge therefrom of material held within the barrels, without the sealing apparatus being mechanically cut from the discharge nozzles. In another preferred embodiment, there is provided a plunger assembly for a dual barreled syringe, the plunger assembly including: two parallel plungers cojoined at first ends thereof against which manual pressure may be applied to force sealing members disposed at a second end thereof through barrels of a body of the dual barreled syringe to discharge materials from the barrels; and joining apparatus, spaced from the flange, attached to, extending between, and joining the plungers to maintain the plungers in relatively rigid, parallel alignment.
