A broadband transverse field interaction continuous beam amplifier device mprised of an elongated continuous cathode modulating grid structure, an elongated continuous demodulating grid-collector structure, first or input waveguide transmission line means including the modulating grid for propagating an input RF wave transversely to an electron beam traveling from the cathode-grid structure to the output-collector structure where the electrons are bunched or modulated by the process of transverse wave interaction, and second or output waveguide transmission line means including the demodulating grid for propagating an induced amplified RF output wave resulting from prebunched electrons traversing the demodulator grid. Both input and output transmission line means include slow wave structures which are implemented in the grid structures.

A single antenna having hemispherical coverage with circular polarization very low axial ratio is disclosed. Its pancake structure comprises two stacked microstrip antennas, one atop the other, each fed phase shifted in relation to the other. Used as transmitter or receiver antenna, it replaces conventional hemispherical types with an extremely compact and relatively inexpensive device.

Clandestine signals are transmitted by using a surface wave acoustic device to disperse the spectrum of a pulse-modulated CW carrier. The dispersed signal is itself modulated and then transmitted to a remote location, at low level. At the remote location, an acoustic device of conjugate characteristics is used to recover the dispersed signal from out of the background noise.

Method of and apparatus for transmitting clandestine radio signals

A device for accurately measuring the quantative value of the real part of complex impedance without the measurement affecting or being affected by the reactive component of that impedance. The device is useful for impedance matching, and especially for tuning antennaes and the like such that the real part of the impedance can be appropriately matched with the source or receiver during tuning. The device operates by comparing the power delivered to the load with the power dissipated in a resistance R when a current proportional to the main line current passes through it. When both power readings are the same, which may be determined by a null indicator, the real part of the load impedance equals the resistance R.
