The invention provides a layered design for a fuel cell flow field plate. A flow field plate is formed by mating at least two interlocking layers that form an internal fluid channel between them. The internal fluid channel is generally used to circulate a coolant through the fuel cell. Such plates can be manufactured from a variety of materials including carbon composites and metals, and can be used with a variety of fuel cell configurations, including PEM and other types of fuel cells.

Nested fuel cell field plate

An assembly includes a fuel cell stack, a circuit board, an elastomeric connector and a frame. The elastomeric connector contacts the stack to provide cell voltages of the stack to the circuit board. The frame holds the circuit board, positions the elastomeric connector between the fuel cell stack and the circuit board and provides the appropriate compression of the connector.

Voltage monitoring system for a fuel cell stack

A flow plate gasket that is usable with a first fuel cell plate and a second fuel cell plate includes a material that is adapted to form a seal between the first and second fuel cell plates. The material includes at least two spaced ridges to contact the first fuel cell plate when the gasket is compressed between the first and second fuel cell plates.

Profiled fuel cell flow plate gasket

A gas diffusion layer that is usable with a fuel cell includes a material that is adapted to permit a reactant of the fuel cell to diffuse through the material. The material includes flow channels for communicating the reactant so that at least a portion of the reactant diffuses through the material to a membrane of a fuel cell. The gas diffusion layer may be received by a recessed portion of a plate.
