In one aspect, a folding knife has a locking mechanism coupled to the blade such that pivoting the blade from the closed position to the open position, and vice versa, causes corresponding rotation of the locking mechanism about the pivot axis of the blade. The locking mechanism is operable to selectively lock the blade in the open position and optionally to selectively lock the blade in the closed position.

Folding knife

A folding knife having a blade-opening mechanism incorporated in the handle of the knife. The blade-opening mechanism in one form can be used to pivot the blade from the closed position to the open position by manually applying pressure to the blade-opening mechanism rather than to a portion of the blade. The blade-opening mechanism in one embodiment also can be adapted to function as a closing mechanism for pivoting the blade closed without applying pressure to the blade. In particular embodiments, the handle desirably includes a pivotable side portion that is coupled to the tang portion of the blade such that manually pivoting the side portion is effective to cause pivoting movement of the blade.

The present disclosure concerns embodiments of an improved knife sharpener. In particular embodiments, the knife sharpener has an elongated sharpening member, which can be, for example, an abrasive sharpening rod. The sharpening rod can be made of any of various suitable materials, such as ceramic, porcelain, stone, diamond. The sharpening member extends through a sharpening guide, which is movable in both directions along the length of the sharpening member. The sharpening guide defines at least one guide slot for receiving a knife blade to be sharpened. The guide slot is configured to position a facet of the knife blade in sliding contact with the sharpening member and at a predetermined angle with respect to the sharpening member.

Knife sharpener

A releasable, double locking knife including a body having a cavity and a pair of opposed arms, each having a free end extending into the cavity, and a blade connected to the body for rotation between the closed position wherein the blade is disposed substantially within the cavity and an open position wherein the blade is disposed substantially outside the cavity. The opposed arms engage side surfaces of the blade when the blade is in the closed position to resist movement of the blade out of the closed position. The arms further engage stop surfaces on the blade when the blade is in the open position, thereby locking the blade in the open position. The blade further includes a release mechanism for moving the arms out of locking engagement with the blade to permit movement of the blade out of the open position.
