An electronic assembly includes a circuit board including a plurality of electrically conductive traces, a cover layer disposed on the circuit board, and a plurality of antenna assemblies disposed on a major top surface of the cover layer and exposing the major top surface therebetween. Each of the antenna assemblies includes an antenna and an adhesive layer bonding the antenna to the major top surface of the cover layer. The antenna is electrically coupled to a corresponding different trace in the plurality of traces. The adhesive layers in the antenna assemblies have substantially a same first composition and a same average first thickness. The antennas in the antenna assemblies have substantially a same second composition and a same average second thickness greater than about 5 microns. The electronic assembly can be singulated to provide antenna assemblies. Methods of making the assemblies are also described.

Antenna assemblies

A wireless communication system includes a transmitter configured to transmit at least first and second radio waves having respective different frequencies F1 and F2, an electrically conductive first passive substantially linear medium, an electrically conductive first passive substantially nonlinear medium disposed proximate the first passive substantially linear medium, and a first magnetic film covering at least a portion of the first passive substantially linear medium. When the transmitter transmits the first and second radio waves, the first passive substantially linear and nonlinear media receive the first and second radio waves and generate first and second signals propagating therein at the respective frequencies F1 and F2. At least one intermodulation signal having a frequency F3 equal to nF1+mF2, where m and n positive or negative integers, is generated in the first passive substantially nonlinear medium. The first magnetic film reduces the at least one intermodulation signal by at least 2 dB.

A magnetic film includes iron and copper distributed between opposing first and second major surfaces of the magnetic film. The copper has a first atomic concentration C1 at a first depth d1 from the first major surface and a peak second atomic concentration C2 at a second depth d2 from the first major surface, d2>d1, C2/C1≥5.

A wireless communication system including an electrically conductive passive medium capable of simultaneously propagating therealong electromagnetic first and second currents at different respective frequencies F1 and F2, the electrically conductive passive medium including an electrically conductive first passive linear medium portion adjacent an electrically conductive first passive nonlinear medium portion, the first passive nonlinear medium portion capable of generating an intermodulation current based on a nonlinear interaction between the first and second currents, the intermodulation current having a frequency Fi equal to nF1+mF2 and propagating along the first passive nonlinear medium portion, m and n being positive or negative integers; and a first magnetic film disposed proximate an electrically conductive external surface of the first linear medium portion, such that when the first and second currents propagate along the first passive linear medium portion toward the first passive nonlinear medium portion, the magnetic film reduces or prevents the generation of the intermodulation current in the first passive nonlinear medium portion by attenuating at least portions of the first and second currents.

A magnetic shielding film includes opposing first and second major surfaces and a plurality of particles dispersed therebetween, each particle having a magnetic permeability, a thickness H along a thickness direction of the particle, and a longest dimension L along a length direction of the particle orthogonal to the thickness direction, L/H greater than or equal to 2, the particles defining a plurality of voids therebetween, the length directions of at least 60% of the particles oriented within 5.5 degrees of a same orientation direction.

Orientation of magnetic fillers to optimize film properties

An antenna for transfer of information or energy is described. The antenna includes an electrically conductive first layer having a width in a thickness direction of the antenna and extending longitudinally along a length of the first layer between first and second longitudinal ends of the first layer, and an electrically insulative thermally conductive second layer bonded to the first layer along the length of the first layer. The first and second layers are wound to form a plurality of substantially concentric loops. A width and a length of the second layer are substantially co-extensive with the respective width and length of the first layer so as to expose opposing longitudinal edge surfaces of the first layer along the length of the first layer. Coils and assemblies useful for making coils are also described.

Antenna for transfer of information or energy

A coil for transfer of information or energy is described. The coil includes an electrically conductive magnetically insulative first layer and a magnetically conductive second layer bonded to the first layer along the length of the first layer. The first and second layers are wound to form a plurality of substantially concentric loops. A width and a length of the second layer may be substantially co-extensive with a respective width and length of the first layer so as to expose opposing longitudinal edge surfaces of the first layer along the length of the first layer. At least one of the opposing longitudinal edge surfaces may include a regular pattern extending substantially along a same first direction and across substantially the entire coil. A method of making the coil is described.

A magnetic film includes iron and copper distributed between opposing first and second major surfaces of the magnetic film. Provided are devices for applying actinic radiation to a curable resin. The devices include a housing having a front face, an actinic radiation source arranged within the housing such that actinic radiation emerges from the housing through the front face, and a proximity detector. The proximity detector is functionally connected to the actinic radiation source such that the actinic radiation source is shut off unless the proximity detector detects the presence of a surface within a safe distance from the front face. Optionally, the device includes a surface temperature sensor functionally connected to the actinic radiation source such that the actinic radiation source is shut off if the surface temperature sensor senses a surface temperature exceeding a maximum safe surface temperature.

Inhibiting formation of optical artifacts in a multi-layer film polarizer of an optical imaging assembly that includes a polarizing beam splitter. The beam splitter may include a multilayer reflective polarizing film having at least two materials, one of which may exhibit birefringence after uniaxial orientation; an adhesive disposed on the multilayer reflective polarizing film; and at least a first prism disposed on the adhesive. The adhesive may include a plasticizer for inhibiting formation of optical artifacts in the polarizing film.

Adhesives inhibiting formation of artifacts in polymer based optical elements

The present disclosure relates to polymer composites that include a thermoplastic polymer, network structure and a soft, ferromagnetic particulate material. The polymer composites may be used, for example, as magnetic flux field directional materials. The present invention also relates to methods of making the polymer composites, e.g. polymer composite sheets, of the present disclosure. In one embodiment, the present disclosure provides a polymer composite including a thermoplastic polymer, network structure; and a soft, ferromagnetic particulate material distributed within the thermoplastic polymer, network structure. The weight fraction of soft, ferromagnetic particulate material may be between 0.80 and 0.98, based on the total weight of the polymer composite and/or the thermoplastic polymer may have a number average molecular weight between 5&#xd7;10g/mol to 5&#xd7;10g/mol.

Thermoplastic polymer composite containing soft, ferromagnetic particulate material and methods of making thereof

Optical elements, color combiners using the optical elements, and image projectors using the color combiners are described. The optical elements can be configured as color combiners that receive different wavelength spectrums of light and produce a combined light output that includes the different wavelength spectrums of light. In one aspect, the received light inputs are unpolarized, and the combined light output is polarized in a desired state. The optical elements are configured to minimize the passage of light which may be damaging to wavelength-sensitive components in the light combiner. Image projectors using the color combiners can include imaging modules that operate by reflecting or transmitting polarized light.
