Disclosed is a thermoplastic composition comprising a poly(trimethylene terephthalate), or poly(butylene terephthalate), and about 0.2 to about 30 weight % of a modifier comprising fatty acid-modified ionomer where the ionomer is derived from an ethylene acid copolymer in which the combined acid moieties of the fatty acid and acid copolymer are at least partially neutralized with cations of magnesium, calcium, zinc, or a combination thereof.

Provided herein are compositions comprising an ionomer and a polyamine or a tertiary polyamide. The polyamine and the tertiary polyamide have a molecular weight of greater than 500 Da and do not contain an ester moiety or a primary amine moiety. The polyamine comprises at least three moieties that are tertiary amines or hindered secondary amines, and the polyamide comprises tertiary amide moieties and no secondary or primary amide moieties. The compositions may optionally include a filler. Further provided are articles such as golf balls and films containing these compositions.

A composition and an article made from the composition are disclosed. The composition comprises, or is produced from, an ionomer, a polyamide, and one or more esters of montanic acid. The article includes film, sheet, filament, tape, molded part, thermoformed product, and container for food or non-food packaging, or combinations of two or more thereof.

The present invention relates to polyamide/polymer blends having a morphology enhancing reagent selected from a phosphorous containing compound such as a hypophosphite salt. Significant physical effects are seen in Tensile strength as well as Vicat softening points. The blends having polyamide and a polymer selected from, for example, a neutralized ethylene copolymer, and the phosphorous containing reagent are useful in producing molded parts and other fabricated parts requiring high strength and toughness. Molded parts produced from such blends also have high gloss, high abrasion/scratch resistance and good high temperature properties.

Blends of highly-neutralized ionomers of copolymers of ethylene and high weight percentages of .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically-unsaturated C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 carboxylic acids dispersed in a continuous or co-continuous polyamide phase are provided and a process for making such blends. The blends are particularly useful in applications such as molded parts where toughness, high gloss, abrasion/scratch (mar) resistance, UV resistance, high temperature properties and stiffness are desired.

High performance ionomer blends

Ionomeric compositions which are blends of a first ethylene/acid copolymer polymerized at low temperatures and normal pressures, and a highly neutralized second ethylene/acid copolymer, polymerized at normal polymerization temperatures and pressures but having a high melt index, above 80 g/10 min., in the parent acid copolymer and also a high melt index, above 3.0 g/10 min., in the resulting neutralized ionomer, have both improved high temperature mechanical properties and improved melt processability. Alternatively, the first and second acid copolymers may be blended and neutralized in the same melt process step, or first melt blended, and then neutralized in a subsequent melt process step.
