A system for warming lubricant of a gearbox includes a heat exchanger connected to the gearbox, the gearbox configured to send the lubricant to the heat exchanger and the heat exchanger configured to receive the lubricant from the gearbox, warm the received lubricant using bleed air from an engine located proximate the heat exchanger, and return the warmed lubricant to the gearbox.

Gearbox heat recovery system

An improved compound planetary gear system. In embodiments, a compound planetary gear system includes at least one planet pinion including a main shaft having a first gear for meshing with a sun gear and a second gear for meshing with a ring gear, and a carrier for supporting the at least one planet pinion. Teeth of the first gear are configured with a first helical angle with respect to a longitudinal angle of the at least one planet pinion, teeth of the second gear are configured with a second helical angle with respect to the longitudinal angle of the at least one planet pinion, the first helical angle different from the second helical angle.

Planetary gearbox system and method therefor

Flexured sun gears for planetary gear systems. In embodiments, a sun gear includes a spline section configured to couple the sun gear to another component, a gear section configured to mesh with at least one other gear of the planetary gear system, and a flexure section configured to couple the spline section to the gear section. The flexure section of the sun gear may have a flexure wall and a flexure curve, and has a thickness (e.g., in at least a portion of the flexure section) that is smaller than a thickness of the spline section and/or the gear section. The flexure section may enable the gear section to displace or move radially with respect to the spline section in response to a rotational force. For example, the flexure section may not move axially (e.g., may not extend) but may bend and/or rotate in response to the rotational force.

Flexured sun gears for planetary gear systems

A bearing raceway for a shaft includes a tubular sleeve comprising a raceway section and a clamp section, the raceway section having a hardened outer surface and a first, axially linear, inner surface, and the clamp section having first threads and a second, axially non-linear, inner surface, where the first threads are configured to mate with second threads on a nut to clamp the tubular sleeve to the shaft.
