Electrolyte compositions containing a solvent, a co-solvent, certain cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride additives, certain phosphorus-containing additives, and an electrolyte salt are described. The electrolyte compositions are useful in electrochemical cells, such as lithium ion batteries where they provide significantly improved cycle life with no loss of discharge capacity.

Nonaqueous electrolyte compositions

A lithium ion battery that has a 5 V stabilized manganese cathode and a nonaqueous electrolyte comprising a phosphate additive is described. The lithium ion battery operates with a high voltage cathode (i.e. up to about 5 V) and has improved cycling performance at high temperature.

Additives to improve electrolyte performance in lithium ion battery

A lithium-ion battery may include a housing, an anode and a cathode that are disposed in the housing and are in ionically conductive contact with one another, an electrolyte composition that is disposed in the housing and providing an ionically conductive pathway between the anode and the cathode, and a porous separator between the anode and the cathode. The cathode may include a cathode active material which is charged to a potential greater than or equal to 4.35 V versus a Li/Lireference electrode. The electrolyte composition may include a) a non-fluorinated carbonate, b) a fluorinated acyclic carboxylic acid ester, c) one or more lithium glycolatoborate compounds, d) a fluorinated carbonate, and e) an electrolyte salt.

Nonaqueous electrolyte compositions comprising lithium glycolatoborate and fluorinated solvent

Electrolyte compositions comprising fluorinated acyclic carboxylic acid esters, fluorinated acyclic carbonates, and/or fluorinated acyclic ethers; co-solvents; and certain film-forming chemical compounds are described. The electrolyte compositions are useful in electrochemical cells, such as lithium ion batteries where they provide the improved performance of a combination of high capacity and high cycle life.

Described herein are electrolyte compositions containing an organic carbonate, a fluorinated solvent, a cyclic sulfate, and at least one electrolyte salt. The cyclic sulfate can be represented by the formula: wherein each A is independently a hydrogen or an optionally fluorinated vinyl, allyl, acetylenic, propargyl, or C-Calkyl group. The electrolyte compositions are useful in electrochemical cells, such as lithium ion batteries.

Nonaqueous electrolyte compositions comprising cyclic sulfates

Disclosed herein are electrolyte compositions comprising: a non-fluorinated carbonate; a fluorinated solvent; a lithium bis(malonato) borate compound represented by the formula: wherein each Qand Qis independently a hydrogen, alkyl, allyl, acetylenic, aryl, or propargyl group; a fluorinated carbonate; and an electrolyte salt. The electrolyte compositions are useful in electrochemical cells, such as lithium ion batteries.

Nonaqueous electrolyte compositions comprising lithium malonatoborate and fluorinated solvent

In a process for producing a cross-linked asphalt/polymer composition ('polymer-modified asphalt' or PMA) that comprises or is produced from asphalt and an ethylene copolymer, an anhydride is used as a promoter. The ethylene copolymer comprises copolymerized units derived from ethylene and an epoxy-containing comonomer. An improvement in asphalt properties is demonstrated without the use of an acid catalyst.

There are provided electrically conducting polymer compositions comprising an electrectically conductive polymer or copolymer and an organic solvent wettable fluorinated acid polymer. Electrically conductive polymer materials are derived from thiophene, pyrrole, aniline and polycyclic heteroaromatic precursor monomers. Non-conductive polymers derived from alkenyl, alkynyl, arylene, and heteroarylene precursor monomers. The organic-solvent wettable fluorinated acid polymer is fluorinated or highly fluorinated and may be colloid-forming. Acidic groups include carboxylic acid groups, sulfonic acid groups, sulfonimide groups, phosphoric acid groups, phosphonic acid groups, and combinations thereof. The compositions can be used in organic electronic devices.
