An attachment for a bench grinder having at least one grinding surface, a tool rest fastener and a tool rest is described. The attachment includes a tool-receiving plate having a bottom surface and a top surface. The bottom surface is configured to matingly engage the tool rest surface. The top surface includes one of a flat surface and a surface having an angled V-shaped groove that is shaped and configured to receive a drill bit or and hold it at a fixed elevation and angle relative to the grinding surface. A slotted flange is normally attached to the tool-receiving plate, is configured to engage the slot with the tool rest fastener while the tool-receiving plate rests on the tool rest surface, and to abut the flange against the attachment surface to hold the attachment immobile during use.

An apparatus for splitting solid and hollow masonry materials is provided. The apparatus includes changeable support tables and upper splitting blades to accommodate various types of masonry materials. A hydraulic ram is operated via a foot pedal to increase the pressure in the ram to raise a lower cutting blade and spring-loaded support table to exert upward and downward pressure on the material, coming it to clearly split. The upper blade is height-adjustable and the support table can be fixed in a lowered position to facilitate the splitting process by eliminating overly repetitive operation of the hydraulic ram.

Apparatus and method for splitting masonry materials

The second member is movable relative to said first member between a first position and a second position, wherein the driven member is closer to the first surface in the second position than in the first position. A collector is movably coupled to the second member at the inlet and communicates with the inlet.

A clamping device for securing an object includes a body having a block and a pin mounted thereon. The block is movably mounted on the body and preferably may move relative to the body along a line that is oblique to a center line of the body. The block may be in a first position, at which the surface of the block contacts or is adjacent to the pin's perimeter, and a second position, at which a distance between the surface of the block and the pin's perimeter is greater than when said block is in said first position.

Apparatus for supporting an object which includes at least two leg members attached to and capable of folding under an object-supporting surface. The leg members are pivotally attached to the object-supporting surface at pivot axes offset from one another relative to the object-supporting surface so that the leg members may fold under the object-supporting surface without interfering with one another. The apparatus includes diagonal supports, attached from the leg members to the object-supporting surface, which are designed to fold with the leg members. The apparatus may also include side rails defining the object-supporting surface. The side rails are configured to releasably attach to a specially configured base portion on an object such as a miter saw.

An apparatus is disclosed for linearly displacing a rotatable spindle relative to an object. The apparatus includes a support that is connectable to the spindle such that translation of the spindle relative to the support in a first direction is restrained, a rotatable shaft which is connected to the support such that translation of the shaft relative to the support in the first direction is restrained, and a rotational drive system rotatably connected to the shaft and rotatably connectable to the spindle, to transmit rotational drive from the spindle to the shaft. The apparatus also includes a contact piece eccentrically mounted to the shaft, wherein the contact piece has a contact surface thereon for contact with the object. Rotation of the shaft varies a distance, measured in the first direction, between the support and a portion of the contact surface contacting the object, such that the spindle is linearly displaceable relative to the object.

A quick release saw blade chuck for connecting a free end of a saw blade to a reciprocating arm of a saw includes a blade holder including a first surface. The free end of the saw blade is interposed between the first surface and the inner surface of a clamping member. The clamping member is coupled to the blade holder by an attachment mechanism which defines a blade-accepting space and a second space between the first and inner surfaces. A mechanism is also provided for varying the size of second space and thereby pivoting the clamping member about the attachment mechanism to vary the size of the blade-accepting space and clamp a blade inserted therein.

A bench type router/shaper which includes (i) a spindle drive pack which incorporates the motor and the spindle into a unitary package so as to establish and maintain a spacial relationship between the motor and the spindle, (ii) a semi-elastic drive belt encompassing the spindle and drive shaft which has a modulus of elasticity effective for providing effective power transmission while permitting removal and replacement of the drive belt without repositioning of the spindle and/or the drive shaft, (iii) a spindle adjustment mechanism for repositioning the longitudinal position of the spindle and thereby the depth of the cutter which includes a rotatable bell crank, a spindle in communication with the first extremity of the bell crank for linear movement of the spindle based upon rotational movement of the bell crank, and a rotatable handle in communication with the second extremity of the bell crank for producing rotation of the bell crank based upon rotation of the handle and (iv) a protective shield over the cutter which provides maximum protection with minimal interference and includes a horizontal plate which is laterally pivotable about a first pivot point proximate the right end of the horizontal plate, and a vertical plate which is longitudinally pivotally connected to the horizontal plate about a second pivot point proximate the left end of both plates.
