Described are an interface module for two-dimensional chromatography and a method of performing a chromatographic separation that may use the interface module. The interface module includes a valve module, a collection needle, a modifier module and a sample storage element. The valve module has a first port configured to receive an eluent from a first chromatography system, a second port configured to provide a fraction obtained from the eluent, a third port and a fourth port. The collection needle and the modifier module are in fluidic communication with the valve module at the third and fourth ports, respectively. The modifier module includes a source of a modifier solvent. The sample storage element is in fluidic communication with the valve module and is configured to receive a volume of the fraction for injection as a sample into a second chromatography system.

Interface module for two-dimensional liquid chromatography

A liquid chromatography system includes a solvent delivery system, a sample manager including a sample delivery system in fluidic communication with the solvent delivery system, the sample delivery system configured to inject a sample from a sample-vial into a chromatographic flow stream, a liquid chromatography column located downstream from the sample delivery system, and a detector located downstream from the liquid chromatography column. The sample delivery system further includes a first needle drive including a first sample needle configured to extract the sample from the sample-vial and deliver the sample to the liquid chromatography column, and a first syringe in communication with the first sample needle configured to meter extraction of the sample from the sample-vial. The sample manager further includes a sample automation system that includes a second needle drive including a second sample needle configured to add a volume of reagent to the sample-vial.

Methods of chromatographic detection are provided that include the step of providing a chromatography instrument without an autosampler, an external device, a pressurized sample injection device and a chromatographic data system. The chromatographic instrument has a sample valve, a column manager and a solvent manager. The present methods further include the steps: injecting sample into the sample valve with a pressurized sample injection device; transmitting a signal from the chromatographic data system to the external device, receiving the signal by the external device, producing an event output with the external device, discharging solvent from the solvent manager into the sample valve, and discharging sample into the column for chromatographic detection.

Systems and methods for chromatographic analysis

Automated sampling and reaction systems and methods of using the same are provided. The automated sampling and reaction system has a microreactor in fluidic communication with an external sampling valve. The external sampling valve is connected to a priming valve and can be configured to draw sample from a reactor or a reactor stream. The microreactor is connected to a reagent valve and an injection valve. The reagent valve can be configured to draw reagent from a reagent reservoir and discharge reagent to the microreactor to react with sample. The priming valve can be configured to draw wash from a wash reservoir and discharge wash to the external sampling valve to move sample from the external sampling valve to the microreactor. The injection valve is in fluidic communication with a column or detector and discharges the secondary sample into a solvent composition stream.

Automated sampling and reaction system for high pressure liquid chromatography and other types of detection

A device for performing chromatographic separations and nuclear magnetic resonance analysis has trapping means for holding a separated sample and to form a held separated sample and placing said held separated sample in said nuclear magnetic resonance assembly. One preferred trapping means forms a held separated sample and a passed separated sample. The passed separated sample is discharged from the device. Preferred trapping means comprise a trapping column or a separated sample loop.

Apparatus and method for coupled LC-NMR analysis

A method and device for increasing the loading capacity of a chromatography column through dilution of a mobile phase at the head of the column. A strong mobile phase is provided for dissolving a sample. A sample is injected into the strong mobile phase, and subsequently diluted with a weak mobile phase. The resulting sample-containing weak mobile phase is passed through a chromatography column for retention and separation of the components of the sample.
