Disclosed herein is a fluid supply system that can provide fluid to a jetting assembly at a constant pressure or at pressures within a desired range of pressures. In an example, the fluid can be ink, and the jetting assembly can be a print head configured for dispensing the ink.

Fluid delivery system and method

A micro-valve includes an orifice plate including an orifice. The micro-valve further includes an actuating beam having a first end and a second end. The actuating beam also includes a base layer and a layer of piezoelectric material disposed on the base layer, a bottom electrode layer, and a top electrode layer. At an electrical connection portion of the actuating beam, the layer of piezoelectric material includes a first via, and a portion of the top electrode layer disposed within the first via, and a portion of the bottom electrode disposed beneath the first via. The actuating beam includes a base portion extending from the electrical connection portion and a cantilevered portion extending from the base portion. The cantilevered portion is movable in response to application of a differential electrical signal between the bottom electrode layer and the top electrode layer to one of open or close the micro-valve.

Electrode structures for micro-valves for use in jetting assemblies

An ink containment system for an inkjet cartridge, for storing ink for printing, comprises a rigid basin member and a rigid moveable plate. A flexible membrane is affixed to a surface of the basin member and to a surface of the plate forming an ink reservoir within the basin member, plate and flexible membrane. A spring-biased mechanism is disposed between the basin member and plate, for biasing the plate apart from the basin member, generating a negative pressure within the ink reservoir and the basin member remaining stationary relative to the movement of the plate. The basin member has a bowl-like configuration and the spring is seated within the reservoir in such a way that when the ink reservoir has collapsed due to depletion of ink, the flexible membrane and moveable plate are substantially flush with surfaces of the basin member.

Ink containment system and ink level sensing system for an inkjet cartridge

An inkjet cartridge has an ink containment system for storing ink for printing. The inkjet cartridge includes a printhead having a plurality nozzles in fluid communication with the ink reservoir and an electrical interconnect for providing an electrical communication between the printhead and a printer controller. The electrical interconnect is disposed at an acute angle relative to the printhead.

An inkjet printing system and method for printing comprising a printhead having two columns of nozzles, and the printhead is in fluid communication with an ink source and in electrical communication with a controller. In response to the print control signals transmitted from the controller, the printhead ejects ink from the two columns in alternating succession to print images having a checkerboard pattern.
