Implant assemblies, systems, and methods for stabilizing a joint between a superior vertebra and an inferior vertebra may include a plate member coupled to an interbody spacer with at least one fastener that extends superiorly or inferiorly from the implant assembly to anchor within a vertebral body and stabilize the joint. Inserters and methods of insertion may also be included to facilitate fixation of various implant assemblies within the intervertebral space of the joint between the superior vertebra and the inferior vertebra.

Interbody spacer and bone plate assembly

An implant and method for fusing adjacent spinal vertebrae is disclosed. In an embodiment for a spinal implant of the present invention, the implant includes a spacer body assembly and two retention members. The two retention members each include split fork tangs wherein the tangs of each retention member are simultaneously extendable from the spacer body assembly into the adjacent vertebra. A method of fusing adjacent vertebrae includes the step of inserting an implant between adjacent vertebrae with retention members. The method also includes the step of configuring the retention members wherein a portion of each tang of a retention member simultaneously extends from the implant into one of the adjacent vertebra.

Intervertebral implant and method of use

Medical implants disclosed herein may include an interior space and at least one bone on-growth structure within the interior space. The bone on-growth structure may include a root coupled to an interior surface of the implant, or to a mesh insert disposed within the interior space of the implant. The root may extend into the interior space toward another opposing interior surface of the implant. The bone on-growth structure may include a plurality of branches coupled to the root via a plurality of junctions. The plurality of branches may project at a plurality of different angles with respect to the root. The plurality of branches may each terminate within the interior space, or alternatively, one or more branches may contact opposing interior surfaces of the implant. The medical implants may also include one or more channels to enhance bone growth within the interior space.
