A valve stem for use in an aerosol valve such as a metered dose medicinal aerosol valve is described. The valve stem includes a flattened area around the side hole. The flattened area helps reduce damage to the diaphragm aperture upon repeated actuation of the metered dose inhaler. Also described is a metered dose valve and a metered dose inhaler, each including the flattened valve stem of the present invention.

Stem configuration to reduce seal abrasion in metered dose aerosol valves

A novel powdered medicament dispenser is disclosed. The powder medicament dispenser includes a novel agglomerator for loading the powder from a reservoir to a dispensing mechanism. In another aspect of the invention, a disposable cartridge is disclosed for use with a medicament dispenser having pressurization and actuator assemblies. A novel method of dispensing a powdered medicament, as well as inhalation activated and transmission assemblies are also disclosed.

Powder dispenser

Metered dose dispensing valves providing good dosage reproducibility with formulations having a propensity to cream and with low concentration formulations. Valves having a tank retaining cup have a small inlet aperture of no more than 0.7 mm and preferably the tank retaining cup follows the configuration of the end of the valve stem. Valves having a bottle emptier attached to the valve stem have a filling channel in the valve stem which protrudes only slightly from the metering chamber when the valve is in its inoperative position.

Metered-dose aerosol valves

The present invention relates to metering valves and methods for repeatedly delivering a precise amount of a pressurized fluid such as an aerosol. Each metering valve is configured such that the metering chamber exists only upon actuation of the valve stem to dispense a dosage. Thus, the metering chamber is created, filled with aerosol formulation, and emptied during the brief moment that the valve stem is depressed and subsequently released by the user to dispense a dosage. Alternative embodiments of the present invention also include mechanisms for pressure filling an aerosol container through such a metering valve.

The system comprises: needle means for insertion into the trachea and having a passageway for directing the medicament into the trachea; medicament dispenser for dispensing the medicament into the needle means; a mask formed from substantially gas inpermeable material and shaped to fit over the mouth and nose of the animal having an opening for the movement of gas thereto; and regulator means adapted for connection to a supply of compressed gas connected to the mask and the needle means to time the discharge of compressed gas to the mask and the needle means to coincide with the animal's inhalation.
