The present invention provides monofilaments coated with certain adhesive layers and methods to produce the coated filaments. Also provided are fabrics formed from the monofilaments. The coated monofilaments and fabrics provide improved adhesion with additional coating top layers.

Polyester monofilaments

A brush for use in cleaning teeth, and a method for cleaning teeth using such brush, in which bristles are used in the brush that are prepared from a composition containing a thermoplastic polymeric resin in admixture with a slip agent.

Low friction toothbrush

A thermoplastic polymer monofilament oriented from 3.0-6.0 times its original length having a diameter of 125-600 microns and containing 0.2-5.0% by weight, based on the weight of the monofilament, of glitter particles or film particles having a particle size of 50-400 microns in its longest diameter, a thickness of 2-50 microns and having a diameter to thickness ratio of at least 2 to 1 and wherein the longest diameter of the particle is not greater than 80% of the diameter of the monofilament and that provide the monofilament with an attractive appearance. A core sheath monofilament is also part of this invention wherein the core is a thermoplastic polymer monofilament having a sheath of the same or different thermoplastic polymer containing the above described particles. These monofilaments are particularly useful in toothbrushes and cosmetic brushes.

Glitter containing filaments for use in brushes

This invention relates to a coextruded monofilament having a sheath made of a first resin and a core made of a second resin which is different than the first resin and which has a higher coefficient of friction than the first resin. The core of the monofilament is exposed at the tip by conventional mechanical end-rounding techniques to form a tip with a higher coefficient of friction than the tip of a typical monofilament.

Coextruded monofilaments

This invention relates to a coextruded monofilament having a core material made of a first resin and a sheath material made of a second resin, with the second resin being different from the first resin, and a pocket formed in the end of the monofilament. This invention also relates to a method of forming a pocket in the end of a coextruded monofilament by chemical or mechanical means, or a combination of chemical and mechanical means.
