A system of interconnecting structural components for supporting and forming suspended concrete slabs that allow removal of form panels without disturbing the slab support posts (shores). Additional features of the system accommodate changes in suspended slab thickness, horizontal slab dimensions that are not multiples of the basic component dimensions, slab edge cantilevered form panels, attachment to walls and remote manipulation of form panels from the floor below using an erection staff. The primary system components are panels, support posts, telescopic beams, adjustable hanger connections, wall hangers, wall beams, raking shore assemblies and erection/stripping staffs. Form panels are directly supported by the shores without the use of an intermediate member (usually a beam) that is common practice in the concrete forming industry. The system reduces the number of required components that in turn reduces the capital cost to the user and improves his labor efficiency and quality of the concrete surface.

Concrete slab form system

An omni-directional system configured to convert the kinetic and potential energy in ocean waves to electrical energy or in some special cases to other forms of energy such as heat, mechanical and pressure energy. The system employs a float moored by a single hydraulic cylinder anchored to the seabed. Wave energy is captured as the float is displaced vertically and horizontally in response to wave action extending the hydraulic cylinder that in turn forces fluid under high pressure to the float where appropriate valves, hydraulic accumulators, and variable displacement hydraulic motors are arranged to drive electric generators. A secondary benefit of the system is the reduction of near shore erosion.

Wave energy conversion system

A system of connectors for use in temporary structures to connect the bracing members of open lattice towers and trusses to the legs of towers and chords of trusses and space frames. A connector is permanently fitted to each end of all bracing members. The connector is configured to engage a cylinder (or projection) that is integral to the leg (or chord as the case may be). After one end is engaged on a cylinder (projection) the member is rotated about the engaged end until the connector on the opposing end of the member engages a corresponding cylinder (projection) on the opposed leg or chord. Installation of the next member using the method as described permanently locks the previously installed member in place such that it can not be removed until the member that was installed after it is removed. The assembly sequence is therefore fixed and begins at the bottom of a tower leg or one end of a truss chord. Disassembly requires following a sequence that is exactly the reverse of the assembly sequence. This system of connectors allows rapid installation of bracing members without the use of tools, installation of fasteners, or engagement of additional securing components such as wedges or cams.

A structural support for supporting a planar substrate, for example plywood, is provided with a screw receiving channel. The channel provides a guide simplifying screw attachment for a substrate to the support.

A guard rail post assembly for a scaffolding platform advantageously uses an offset base portion to simplify connection of rail members at a point aligned above the base. A gravity lock is also disclosed which serves to maintain rail members which have been secured to the guard rail assembly and/or secure other connecting members elsewhere in scaffolding and shoring systems.

The present invention relates to a scaffold deck of simplified construction. The scaffold deck has two parallel side rails connected at the ends by means of parallel transom members. Hook members are provided at the junction of the transom and side rail members with the fasteners for each hook member commonly securing the respective transom and side rail. The side rails at the opposed interior edges include a substrate engaging slot extending in the length of the side rails and have an edge region beyond the substrate which forms part of the top working surface of the scaffold deck. The scaffold deck advantageously uses the side rails for forming an edge region of the scaffold deck whereby the amount of substrate between the side rails is reduced thereby reducing cost and improving the weight of the scaffold deck.

An improved gear box assembly is provided for a vertical axis wind turbine, the vertical axis wind turbine having a rotor having a centrally disposed axis oriented in the vertical direction, a bull gear supporting the rotor, a base below the bull gear, the bull gear being adapted to rotate above the base, the bull gear and base presenting a hollow housing and shaft terminating in an inner end wall and end surface respectively, the housing for receiving the shaft, one of the said hollow housing or shaft being stationary and the other being rotatable with respect thereto and secured to the bull gear, the shaft and housing when secured together presenting a space between the inner end wall and end surface, bearings supported between the housing and shaft, and sealing means for sealing the space between the housing and shaft, a fluid passageway extending into the space created between the inner end wall and end surface for feeding hydraulic fluid under pressure into the space for hydraulically elevating the bull gear relative to the base, means precluding the gear from rising more than a predetermined or controlled distance, means for feeding the fluid under pressure to, and means for draining the fluid from, the space, and a reservoir for such fluid.

A vertically adjustable pool platform, for use in a swimming pool, means to vertically raise and lower the platform, and means connecting the platform to the means to vertically raise and lower the platform, the pool platform being buoyant to float on the surface of the water, and be constantly urged to float to the surface of the water, when submerged under water at a predetermined level, and the platform permits vertical passage of water therethrough.
