A method for controlling dosing of droplet delivery device includes providing a droplet delivery device, such as an inhaler, to a user, verifying a location of the user with the droplet delivery device, such as by GPS, and enabling dosing of the drug in droplets ejected from the device based on the verifying of the location of the user.

An electronically actuated droplet delivery device includes a housing with an airflow exit at a mouthpiece and an airflow entrance in fluid communication with the airflow exit via an airflow channel. An aperture plate coupled to an electronic actuator energized by a power source produces a droplet plume from a fluid reservoir in fluid communication with the aperture plate. A change of airflow trajectory in the airflow channel and/or a fan provides inertial filtering and removal of droplets in the plume that have a mass mean aerodynamic diameter greater than 5 μm.

A droplet delivery device includes a housing with a mouthpiece port or outlet from a nasal device for releasing fluid droplets, a fluid reservoir, and an ejector bracket having a membrane positioned between a mesh with a plurality of openings and a vibrating member that is coupled to an electronic transducer, such as an ultrasonic transducer. The transducer vibrates the vibrating member which causes the membrane to push fluid supplied by the reservoir through the mesh to generate droplets in an ejected stream released through the outlet.

A method of delivering safe, suitable, and repeatable dosages to a subject for topical, oral, nasal, or pulmonary use and a device for droplet ejection includes a fluid delivery system capable of delivering a defined volume of the fluid in the form of droplets having properties that afford adequate and repeatable high percentage deposition upon application. The method and device include a housing, a reservoir disposed within the housing for receiving a volume of fluid, an ejector mechanism configured to eject a stream of droplets having an average ejected droplet diameter greater than 15 microns, the stream of droplets having low entrained airflow such that the stream of droplets deposit on the eye of the subject during use.

The present disclosure relates to ejector mechanisms and devices for generating a directed stream of droplets, as well as improved methods for delivering an ejected stream of droplets to a target. The device and methods may be useful for the delivery of fluid for ophthalmic, topical, oral, nasal, or pulmonary use, more particularly, for use in the delivery of ophthalmic fluid to the eye. Certain aspects of the disclosure relate to devices and methods for the delivery of a therapeutically effective low dosage volume medicament composition to a target, e.g., by controlling charge, droplet size and/or droplet deposit parameters of the medicament composition.

An ejector device for ejecting droplets of fluid onto a surface includes an ejector mechanism attached to a fluid reservoir through a fluid loading plate that is configured to pierce the reservoir and channel the fluid to a rear surface of the ejector mechanism by capillary action. The ejector mechanism may have a centro-symmetric configuration with a lead free piezo actuator and may be covered by an auto-closing cover.

The droplet delivery device is configured to facilitate the ejection of small, e.g., single use, volumes of a therapeutic agent. The in-line droplet delivery device includes a housing, a mouthpiece, a reservoir, an ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The in-line droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The in-line droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a plume of droplets having an average ejected particle diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5-6 &#x3bc;m, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user. the droplet delivery device is configured in an in-line orientation in that the housing, its internal components, and various device components (e.g., the mouthpiece, air inlet flow element, etc.) are orientated in a substantially in-line or parallel configuration (e.g., along the airflow path) so as to form a small, hand-held device.

A dry powder aerosol delivery device and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The dry powder aerosol delivery device includes a housing, a cartridge, and a dry powder dispersion mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The dry powder delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The dry powder aerosol delivery device is then actuated to generate a plume of particles having an average ejected particle diameter within the respirable size range, e.g., less than about 5-6 &#x3bc;m, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user.

The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a nosepiece, a reservoir, an ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within the nosepiece. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a plume of droplets having an average ejected particle diameter of greater than about 6 microns, preferably greater than about 10 micron, so as to target the nasal passageways and sinus cavities of the user.
