Techniques are provided for time-domain processing of DL-PRS signals under certain conditions in which time-domain processing has a computational advantage over frequency-domain processing. Because of this, embodiments can provide positioning at a lower computational cost than positioning provided by traditional techniques utilizing only frequency-domain processing. This reduced computational cost can improve the battery life of mobile devices, ultimately resulting in a better user experience.

Time-domain processing for positioning signals

Disclosed are techniques for determining a line-of-sight (LOS) path between a transmitter and a wireless device in a wireless communications network. In an aspect, a wireless device receives, from the transmitter, a first reference signal transmitted on a first antenna port and a second reference signal transmitted on a second antenna port, the first reference signal having a first polarization and the second reference signal having a second polarization with known difference (e.g., perpendicular) to the first polarization, compares multi-path channels estimated from reception of the first reference signal and the second reference signal to multi-path channels expected from the first reference signal and the second reference signal when transmitted along the LOS path between the transmitter and the wireless device, and determines which path (if any) of the multi-path channels corresponds to the LOS path between the transmitter and the wireless device.

Physical layer non-line-of-sight path discrimination based on polarization

Disclosed are techniques for determining locations of reference nodes. In an aspect, an apparatus transmits a request to a first reference node to perform a first round-trip-time (RTT) procedure with a second reference node, determines a first distance between the first reference node and the second reference node based on the RTT procedure, determines relative locations of the first and second reference nodes with respect to each other, and determines absolute locations of the first and second reference nodes from their relative locations based on at least one of the first and second reference nodes having a known absolute location and at least one known angle-of-arrival (AoA) or angle-of-departure (AoD) of at least one reference signal.

A method and apparatus for addressing reductions in the uplink path gain associated with user terminals are disclosed. A return path of the satellite may receive a number of data signals on a single frequency channel, wherein each of the number of data signals occupies a unique time-frequency sub-channel of the single frequency channel, originates from a corresponding one of a number of user terminals (UTs), and includes a plurality of time slots dynamically allocated to a group of user equipment (UE) devices associated with the corresponding UT. The return path may determine a combined power level of all the number of received data signals that occupy all the time-frequency sub-channels of the single frequency channel, and then adjust an amplifier gain applied to the number of received data signals in the return path based, at least in part, on the combined power level.

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for increasing the efficiency of an amplifier when driven by a variable load. In one aspect a transmitter device is provided. The transmitter device includes a driver circuit characterized by an efficiency. The driver circuit is electrically connected to a transmit circuit characterized by an impedance. The transmitter device further includes a filter circuit electrically connected to the driver circuit and configured to modify the impedance to maintain the efficiency of the driver circuit at a level that is within 20% of a maximum efficiency of the driver circuit. The impedance is characterized by a complex impedance value that is within a range defined by a real first impedance value and a second real impedance value. A ratio of the first real impedance value to the second real impedance value is at least two to one.

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for tuning a wireless power transmitter. In one aspect an apparatus configured to wirelessly provide power to a load is provided. The apparatus includes a transmit circuit including a transmit coil. The transmit circuit is configured to wirelessly provide power to the load. The transmit coil is configured to resonate at a resonant frequency. The transmit circuit has a reactance. The apparatus further includes a detection circuit configured to detect a change in the resonant frequency while providing power to the load. The apparatus further includes a tuning circuit configured to adjust the reactance based on the change.

Wireless power transmitter tuning

Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power. A wireless power receiver includes a receive antenna for coupling with near field radiation in a coupling-mode region generated by a transmit antenna operating at a resonant frequency. The receive antenna generates an RF signal when coupled to the near filed radiation and a rectifier converts the RF signal to a DC input signal. A direct current (DC)-to-DC converter coupled to the DC input signal generates a DC output signal. A pulse modulator generate a pulse-width modulation signal to the DC-to-DC converter to adjust a DC impedance of the wireless power receiver by modifying a duty cycle of the pulse-width modulation signal responsive to at least one of a voltage of the DC input signal, a current of the DC input signal, a voltage of the DC output signal, and a current of the DC output signal.

Adaptive impedance tuning in wireless power transmission

This disclosure is directed to a repeater and base station control device implemented in a wireless communication system. The repeater includes a control unit capable of detecting signals sent from various base stations in the wireless communication system. In accordance with this disclosure, the repeater identifies a set of base stations that it can detect, and then sends information indicative of the set of base stations that the repeater can detect to a specific base station that gets repeated by the repeater. In this manner, the repeater can be used to help assess network topology. The base station control device receives the information from the base station and can use the information to update a neighbor list.

Repeater that reports detected neighbors

A method and apparatus for determining whether a received signal is transmitted via a repeater is described. A source signal to be conveyed via a particular repeater may include, or be modified to include, a variety of signal characteristics having a predictable relationship that remains relatively constant, which may be taken together as a signature of the repeater. The signature may reflect a composite of distinct signals. A database of repeater signature references may be developed, and an adequate match between characteristics of an unknown received signal and such signature references indicates that at least part of the unknown signal is transmitted via a repeater. Useful signal characteristics for repeater signatures may include some representative of signal strength, and time of arrival information, among many other possibilities.

Method and apparatus for determining repeater use in wireless communications

A repeater is disclosed with position location capability. The repeater includes a position location device for determining the location of the repeater. The position location device uses radio-location signals received independently or by a receiver to determine the location of the repeater. The location of the repeater can be used to update a base station almanac.
