A system comprises a cement mixer, a supply tank to supply dry cement to the cement mixer, and a dry cement height sensor to measure the height of the dry cement in the cement supply tank. A valve controls the flow of dry cement to the cement supply tank based on the signals from the dry cement height sensor. Additional apparatus, methods, and systems are disclosed.

Cement supply control systems and methods

The disclosure provides a method of monitoring a flow rate of a liquid additive comprising measuring the flow rate of the liquid additive with a flow meter; transmitting the measurements of the flow rate to a controller; transmitting, from a variable frequency drive (VFD), measurements of a rotational speed of a motor to the controller, wherein the VFD is coupled to the motor; transmitting measurements from a level sensor to the controller; determining whether the flow rate of the liquid additive is a non-zero rate; utilizing the measurements transmitted to the controller as feedback to compare against a designated set point; calculating an error between the feedback and the designated set point to calculate an updated output; and transmitting the updated output to the VFD to change the flow rate of the liquid additive.

Additive control method utilizing smart redundant feedback

A method of configuring a flow control valve of a mixing system may comprise establishing a flow loop via a pump, a flow control valve, and a flow rate sensor. The method may also include performing a valve configuration process that includes positioning the flow control valve in a first position, operating the pump to communicate a fluid via the flow loop at a first speed, measuring a first periodic dataset while the fluid is communicated via the flow loop, and recording the first periodic dataset. The method may also include comparing a result of the valve configuration process to a valve position dataset and an operational indicator set and determining an pass/fail status based upon the comparison, and outputting, by the unit controller, indicia of the pass/fail status of the mixing system via the input output device.

Automated configuration of pumping equipment

An example method of performing a valve check on a plurality of valves utilized in a wellbore servicing operation includes identifying a set of valves to be checked from the plurality of valves. The method also includes simultaneously actuating each valve in the set to transition from a first position to a second position. The method further includes for each valve in the set, recording a first response time based on the transition from the first position to the second position and determining if the first response time for the valve exceeds a first predetermined upper threshold. The method also includes presenting a display of each valve in the set and an indication whether the first response time exceeds the first predetermined upper threshold.

Pre-job operation valve checks

An example method of setting a plurality of valves into a predetermined configuration for use in a wellbore servicing operation includes presenting a schematic display of the plurality of valves with a visual indication of the current state of each valve. The method also includes displaying a list of predefined valve configurations. The method further includes overlaying on the schematic display a predefined valve configuration selected from the list and visually indicating on the overlay the state of each valve if the predefined valve configuration is implemented.

Setting valve configurations in a manifold system

A cementing system having an engine control module, a transmission control module, a computing device and a display. The engine control module communicatively coupled with a plurality of engine sensors. The transmission control module communicatively coupled with a plurality of transmission sensor. The computing device is communicatively coupled with the display and communicatively coupled, via at least one J1939 data link, with the engine control module and the transmission control module. The computing device is configured to receive data from at least one of an engine control module or a transmission control module, compare the received data to a list of stored codes and in response to the received data matching a stored code, causing the rendering of an alarm message associated with the matched code and/or a warning message associated with the matched code on the display.

Engine and transmission notification system using a J1939 data link interface

A method of servicing a request during high pressure wellsite pumping operations to manipulate a valve in a manifold system having a plurality of valves includes receiving a plurality of valve configurations that would result in an overpressured manifold system and comparing the request to a proposed valve configuration that would result from a proposed valve manipulation. The method includes determining whether a pump to the manifold system is operating. The method further includes determining whether the proposed valve manipulation inhibits a flow path between the pump and an outlet of the manifold system and would result in an overpressured manifold system. The method also includes in response to a determination that the proposed valve manipulation inhibits the flow path: blocking the proposed valve manipulation and presenting an operator with an override option.

High pressure valve and transmission safety checks

A cementing system is provided. A cement slurry dispenser includes at least one control valve, at least one liquid additive pump, and at least one water pump. A computer has a display for an interface screen. The e interface screen displays a list zone of available selectable tests for the cement slurry dispenser and corresponding global selection choices, a detail zone, wherein in response to selection of one of the selectable tests from the list zone, substeps of the selected one of the selectable tests is displayed a local activate button configured to commence only the selected one of the selectable tests displayed in the detail zone; and a global activate button configured to commence all of the selectable tests in the list zone that are indicated as selected by the corresponding global selection choices. The computer implements the tests on the cement slurry dispenser.

Automated system pre-check methodology and corresponding interface

Various embodiments include a variable frequency drive motor control apparatus. The apparatus includes a main controller having a first interface. A motor controller is coupled to and controls an electric motor, the motor controller further coupled to the main controller. A network switch is coupled to the main controller, the motor controller, and a remote controller over respective digital connections. The remote controller has a second interface. The network switches data between the first interface, the second interface, and the motor controller. A network coupler is coupled between a variable frequency drive controller and the motor controller.
