A box-type warewasher includes a housing defining an internal treatment space for receiving wares to be washed and a liquid sump below the treatment space. A wash liquid delivery system includes a wash pump having an input connected to the liquid sump and an output connected to deliver liquid to one or more spray nozzles of the treatment space. A rinse liquid delivery system includes a rinse pump for delivering rinse water to one or more spray nozzles of the treatment space. A condensing system includes a heat exchanger external of the treatment space, and a blower for moving hot moist air from the treatment space across the heat exchanger and back to the treatment space. A controller effects operation of each of the wash liquid delivery system, the rinse liquid deliver system and the condensing system. The controller is configured for carrying out at least one ware cleaning sequence in which: a wash spray operation is carried out by operating the wash pump; subsequent to the wash spray operation a rinse spray operation is carried out by operating the rinse pump; and subsequent to the rinse spray operation a condensing operation is carried out by operating the blower.

A warewasher for washing wares includes a housing defining an internal space with at least one spray zone for washing wares. A liquid delivery system provides a spray of liquid within the spray zone. A tank includes an inlet that is connected to a hot water source for filling the tank with hot water. The liquid delivery system receives water from the tank. An exhaust vents heated air from the housing. A final rinse system is connected to a cold water source. A heat recovery system is located between the final rinse system and the cold water source. The heat recovery system transfers heat from the exhaust air to the cold water provided from the cold water source. A valve associated with the hot water source selectively supplements the water exiting the heat recovery system with hot water from the hot water source.

A conveyor warewasher for washing wares includes a first tank including a drain system having a drain outlet and a drain stop movable between a drain outlet closed position and a drain outlet open position. A second tank includes a drain system having a drain outlet, an associated drain path that leads to the first tank and an associated drain path stop moveable between a drain path open position and a drain path closed position. A drain control assembly includes a common drain actuator operatively connected to cause both (i) movement of the drain stop from the drain outlet closed position to the drain outlet open position and (ii) movement of the drain path stop from the drain path closed position to the drain path open position.

A torsion bar assembly for a dishwasher door having a stainless steel torsion bar enclosed in an elongated stainless steel tube such that the bar rotates within the tube as the door is moved between an open and a closed position. One end of the bar and tube are fixedly disposed in a rectangular boss which is fixedly attached to the dishwasher door; and a second end of the tube and bar are releasably disposed in a cylindrical boss which is welded to a door hinge. The bosses are attached on opposite sides of the interior door panel, so that the torsion bar extends substantially the width of the door. The torsion bar is protected from water by the corrosion-resistant tube, and by a pair of quad-rings which are disposed in recesses in the cylindrical boss. The quad-rings prevent water from seeping through the boss and reaching the torsion bar. When the ends of the torsion bar are disposed in the bosses, the bar is spaced within the tube to permit the bar to rotate independently of the tube. This rotation builds up torque in the torsion bar. This torque is released when the door is closed, to supplement the effort needed to close the door.

The invention relates to a method for operating a warewasher drain valve having a valve cover and a drain. The method comprises the step of rapidly reciprocating the valve cover from a first position closing the drain to a second position in which the drain is opened.
