A vehicle control system includes a forward vehicle sensor transmitting a forward vehicle message based on a distance to a forward vehicle. An adaptive cruise controller receives the forward vehicle message and receives at least one additional message indicating a respective status of the vehicle, the adaptive cruise controller sets a braking pressure for an adaptive cruise controller braking event above a default braking pressure if the adaptive cruise controller determines, based on the at least one of the additional messages, that the vehicle will maintain stability during the adaptive cruise controller braking event.

System and method for adjusting braking pressure

A traction valve is provided for use in combination with a relay valve. The traction valve includes a body configured for connection to a housing of the relay valve and defining inlet, outlet and traction supply ports. A first fluid control valve used for traction control is supported on the body and includes a valve member that alternately permits and prevents fluid communication between the traction supply and outlet ports in the body. The body and the first fluid control valve are configured to receive any of a plurality of interchangeable second fluid control valves between the inlet port in the body and the first fluid control valve. Each of the plurality of interchangeable second fluid control valves is configured to perform a different function such that the traction valve assumes different configurations upon assembly of the various second fluid control valves with the body and the first fluid control valve.

A system and method are provided for improving the operational performance of a moving cement mixer vehicle with a rotatable mixing drum by automatically stopping the rotation of the mixing drum at select moments. The system may include a sensor adapted to deliver a signal indicative of an operational parameter, such as steering angle of the vehicle, and a processing unit adapted to receive the signal from the sensor and deliver a control signal based on the signal for stopping rotation of the mixing drum.

A two solenoid pressure modulated ABS relay valve incorporates a quick release valve in the control air circuit to allow a majority of the air in the control cavity to escape directly to ambient. The orifice through the exhaust solenoid need only handle a relatively small volume of air upstream of the quick release valve, i.e., between the quick release diaphragm and the inlet solenoid seat.

A test for an electronically controlled braking system, such as an adaptive braking system, is made to assure that the solenoids of each of the modulators are properly wired. According to the test, each modulator is tested in sequence. The exhaust solenoid of a modulator is actuated for 10 milliseconds, and the hold solenoid is then actuated for 30 milliseconds. If the modulator has been miswired, the exhaust solenoid will have been actuated for 30 milliseconds, thus generating a much louder 'popping' sound than that generated by the other modulators will be immediately noticed and corrected.
