Continuous process for grease preparation

Mixed aromatic/aliphatic oxyaluminum acylates wherein the ratio of the number of aromatic radicals to the number of aliphatic radicals ranges from 3:1 to 19:1 and a process for making such compounds. Also premix compositions useful in grease manufacture are provided along with methods for preparing new greases therefrom.

Grease compositions and oxyaluminum acylate intermediate compositions

Mixed aromatic/aliphatic oxyaluminum acylates are provided which have utility for the manufacture of greases without generating by-product alcohol and without requiring the use of water.

A curable storage stable polyester resin composition in a liquid or formable solid form containing oxy aluminum acylate. No water is needed in order to cause the composition to increase in viscosity over the viscosity of a comparable composition which contains no such oxy aluminum acylate, and no by-product alcohol is produced in the system as the oxy aluminum acylate interreacts with the other components of the resin composition. Such compositions can be prepared easily and simply, and, in the presence of a curing agent, can be converted into solid products which characteristically have physical properties and chemical resistance which are, respectively, at least as good as comparable cured compositions which contain no oxy aluminum acylate.
