A retrofit kit is configured for a single or multiple tubular fluorescent lamp fixture. The original fixture being retrofitted may or may not have any reflectors. The kit includes a new improved reflector with double concave wings. The winged reflector preferably has a central arched, preferably trapezoidal portion which forms the lower cover of the fixture box. This central trapezoidal portion includes an access door to permit access to the ballast without the need to remove the winged reflector once it is installed. An arched, preferably trapezoidal socket bar is installed at each end of the fixture, to lower the position of the lamp with respect to the winged reflector surfaces, to enhance the light distribution in a downward direction while permitting enhanced up-lighting. The distal ends of the trapezoidal central portion of the reflector mate with the trapezoidal socket bars at opposite ends of the fixture.

Fluorescent light fixture retrofit kit

A hatch is provided for a fluorescent lighting fixture having a continuous reflector covering the central section. The hatch is covered by a cover of compatible contour cut through the reflector underneath the location of the ballast in the housing above the reflector. The hatch cover is finished in the same surface as that of the reflector to minimize any disruption to the intended reflective pattern and to blend visually with the reflector. Two or more preferably quick-connect fasteners attach the hatch cover to the reflector. To gain access to the ballast, the lens or diffuser is removed and then the fluorescent lamp tubes which would interfere with the hatch cover are removed. The hatch cover is then removed to gain unobstructed access to the ballast from the underside of the fixture.

A fluorescent light fixture is suspended by a longitudinally extending trapezoidal pendant bracket/stabilizer. The trapezoidal pendant bracket/stabilizer includes a horizontally extending top brace and a pair of obliquely extending arms extending downward in opposite directions from the top brace in a trapezoidal crossection. Each obliquely extending arm has a flat, horizontally and outwardly extending attachment foot extending longitudinally along a flat top surface of the fluorescent lamp fixture, wherein each attachment foot is attached to the flat top surface of the fluorescent lamp fixture. The horizontally extending top brace is attachable to a ceiling mounted fastener, such as a toggle hanger or other downwardly extending fastener.

Self leveling bracket/stabilizer for fluorescent lighting fixtures with controlled uplight capability

A fluorescent light fixture with light transmissive windows aimed to provide controlled illumination above the mounted lighting fixture includes a housing having an elongated horizontal top surface with side edges and edges at opposite ends of the top surface. Oblique walls extend from the side edges of the top surface, and flare downwardly and outwardly from the side edges. First and second end walls extend downwardly from opposite ends of the top surface, the oblique walls and end walls joining to form a downwardly facing opening in the housing. Fluorescent light bulbs are mounted parallel to each other in the housing, so that light from selected light bulbs is reflected generally downwardly. The oblique walls include a plurality of spaced windows configured to direct a controlled portion of light from one or more light bulbs in a generally upward direction to provide indirect lighting.

A fluorescent light fixture includes a housing having an elongated horizontal top surface with side edges and edges at opposite ends of the top surface. Oblique walls extend from the side edges of the top surface, and flare downwardly and outwardly from the side edges. The end walls extend downwardly from the top surface, the oblique and end walls joining to form a downwardly facing opening in the housing. A plurality of generally downwardly facing reflectors within the housing extend the length thereof. Fluorescent light bulbs are mounted parallel to each other in the housing beneath the reflectors, so that light from the light bulbs reaching the reflectors is reflected generally downwardly. The oblique walls and an end reflector are configured to direct a portion of light from one or more light bulbs under each end reflector in a generally upwardly direction to provide indirect lighting.

Fluorescent lighting fixtures with controlled uplight capability

An alternative lighting system luminaire to conventional fluorescent light fixtures includes an angled mounting bracket with a plurality of fluorescent lamps to provide both greater illumination of a linearly extending visual display aisle. The obliquely placed lamps are secured and powered by sockets fastened to the angled mounting bracket which is mounted to the ballasts of the fixture. Ballasts are located in the area between the reflector and the top of the fixture. The light emitted ends of the fixture are angled downward to illuminate areas not immediately below the lighting fixture itself.

An alternative lighting system luminaire to conventional high intensity discharge light fixtures such as mercury vapor, metal halide, high pressure sodium lighting fixtures includes a highly polished reflector made of silver film or highly polished aluminum with a plurality of fluorescent biax lamps to provide both greater lumen production per watt and retain a greater percentage of it's lumen output over the fixtures life. This system allows one for one fixture replacement when substituted for 400-watt metal halide, 400 watt high pressure sodium, and 400-1000 watt mercury vapor high intensity discharge lighting fixtures in design or replacement applications. The luminaire utilizes very high efficiency 'Dulux L' high lumen compact fluorescent lamps, which are each shaped like a single inverted 'U' and are a minimum of 16 inches long. The lamps extend parallel to the face lens of the fixture and can number from one to eight in quantity. A highly polished reflector is placed above the lamps allowing for the maximum amount of light to be emitted from the face of the fixture with the lens. The lamps are secured and powered by sockets fastened to plates, which are mounted at two opposing sides of the fixture. Ballasts are located in the area between the reflector and the top of the fixture. The upper section of the fixture is angled upward to create a pyramid effect that gives stability to the fixture when it is pendant hung from a ceiling.

An alternative lighting system luminaire to conventional high intensity discharge light fixtures such as mercury vapor, metal halide, high pressure sodium lighting fixtures includes a concave translucent reflector/refractor or a concave, opaque reflector with a starburst pattern of fluorescent lights to provide both greater lumen production per watt. This system allows one-for-one fixture replacement when substituted for 400 watt metal halide and 1000 watt mercury vapor high intensity discharge lighting fixtures in design or replacement applications. The luminaire utilizes very high efficiency 'Dulux L' high lumen compact fluorescent lamps, which each are shaped like a single inverted 'U' and are a minimum of 16 inches long. The lamps extend from the base of the refractor or the reflector in a starburst pattern, wherein the lamps extend both downward and outward. The lamps are secured and powered by clamping sockets fastened to a plate, which is mounted in a range extending from at the base to approximately one fourth the distance between the base and the larger end of the concave reflector/refractor or the reflector.

This system allows one-for-one fixture replacement when substituted for 400 watt metal halide and 1000 watt mercury vapor high intensity discharge lighting fixtures in design or replacement applications. The luminaire utilizes very high efficiency 'Dulux L' high lumen compact fluorescent lamps, which each are shaped like a single inverted 'U' and are a minimum of 16 inches long. The lamps extend from the base of reflector and/or refractor in a starburst pattern, wherein the lamps extend both downward and outward. The lamps are secured and powered by clamping sockets fastened to a plate, which is mounted in a range extending from at the base to approximately one fourth the distance between the base and the larger end of the reflector and/or refractor. Ballasts are located in an enclosure mounted above and outside, or are remoted from the reflector/refractor.
