A manufacture configured to and process for inhibiting, from wear, a lock in a latching system comprising: a gland surrounding an actuator translating the lock through: a first fixed lock receptor and a moveable lock receptor. The manufacture and process include: inhibiting a skewing, of a lock central axis of the lock with the lock translating through the first opening and the opening in the moveable lock receptor, away from substantially aligning with: a first central axis of a first opening of the first fixed lock receptor, and an actuator central axis of the actuator, via fitting a first translation guide into the first fixed lock receptor. Also included is inhibiting: wear of a gland around an actuator in the lock while translating, and leaking, past the gland, of an actuator fluid within the lock; and skewing of an actuator central axis of the actuator.

Manufacture and process for inhibiting wear in a latch system

A folding wing tip system of an aircraft includes a latch pin actuator having a primary mechanical lock and a secondary hydraulic lock. The mechanical lock may include a lock cam movable between a lock position, in which the lock cam engages the latch pin, and an unlock position, in which the lock cam is disengaged from the latch pin, and a first lock actuator mechanically coupled to the lock cam and configured to provide a bias force pushing the lock cam toward the lock position. The hydraulic lock may be disposed in an unlatching hydraulic line and has an initial state, in which fluid flow through the unlatching hydraulic line is blocked thereby to hold the latch pin in the latched position, and an open state, in which fluid flow through the unlatching hydraulic line is permitted thereby to permit retraction of the latch pin to the unlatched position.

A latch pin actuator comprises a primary lock, a spring, and a piston. The primary lock is attached to a primary lock cam and has a notch. The spring is biased to lock the primary lock. The piston is configured to unlock the primary lock.

Folding wing system

A folding wing tip system of an aircraft includes a latch pin actuator having a primary mechanical lock and a secondary hydraulic lock. An apparatus comprises a sensor system, a flexible line, and a sensor. The sensor system is capable of detecting skew in at least some of a plurality of control surfaces for a vehicle. The flexible line extends across a number of interfaces for a portion of the plurality of control surfaces. The sensor is connected to the flexible line and is capable of detecting the skew in the portion of the plurality of control surfaces in response to a selected amount of movement of the flexible line.
