An O-ring collar seal for an interface between adjacent first and second components includes a cylindrical structure arranged along a longitudinal axis and characterized by an L-shape in a cross-sectional view. The L-shape includes a first section orthogonal to the longitudinal axis, with a distal end extending toward the axis for being sandwiched between the components. The L-shape also includes a second section extending from the first section, arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis, and configured to retain the O-ring collar seal on the first component. The L-shape additionally includes a round shape third section arranged on the first section's distal end for being compressed by the adjacent components to generate sealing pressure therebetween when the O-ring collar seal is installed in the interface. The first and second sections of the L-shape together define a collar portion and the third section defines an O-ring portion of the O-ring collar seal.

An serviceable battery pack and assembly method may include a battery pack having a stanchion extending through a wall of the battery pack, a first battery pack seal between the stanchion and the wall of the battery pack, attachment of the battery pack at the exterior of a floor pan of a vehicle at the stanchion, and a second battery pack seal between the exterior of the floor pan and the wall of the battery pack surrounding the stanchion.

Electric vehicle battery enclosures and methods of assembling electric vehicle battery enclosures involve a base portion to hold one or more batteries that provide motive power to an all-electric or hybrid electric vehicle. An electric vehicle battery enclosure includes a cover portion to mate with the base portion to enclose the one or more batteries, and a sealant to create a bond between the base portion and the cover portion around an entire perimeter of the enclosure and to seal the enclosure based on a uniform height of the sealant around the perimeter of the enclosure.

A battery enclosure, support beam for a battery enclosure and method of manufacturing the support beam. The battery enclosure includes a base and the support beam is securable within the base. The support beam includes a body, a nut channel secured to the body, and a mechanical fastener attached to the nut channel. The nut channel is formed into a u-shaped channel. The mechanical fastener is attached to the nut channel and the nut channel is secured to the body of the support beam.

The body structure attachment portion is configured to be attachable to the body structure. The tether hook connection portion is configured to receive the tether hook, such that the tether hook is connected to the tether hook bracket. The tether hook rebound blocker portion is disposed between the body structure attachment portion and the tether hook connection portion and is configured to maintain the connection of the tether hook to the tether hook bracket when the vehicle is subjected to the rebound event.

An energy management system for a vehicle includes a load-bearing component operatively positioned in a wheel cavity rearward of a tire and wheel assembly in the wheel cavity. The load-bearing component is configured to limit movement of the tire and wheel assembly in the wheel cavity under a load applied to the vehicle forward of the tire and wheel assembly and offset from a longitudinal centerline of the vehicle.

The body panel has a single thickness portion and a double thickness edge portion where the body panel is hemmed over onto itself and is attachable to the body structure. The body panel may be made of a metal material or a non-metal material. The attachment may be via a weld, a fastener, and/or an adhesive.

An energy management system for a vehicle limits movement of a tire and wheel assembly in a wheel cavity. The vehicle has a wheel well structure that defines the wheel cavity. The energy management system includes a tether attached to the tire and wheel assembly. The tether is configured to limit movement of the tire and wheel assembly within the wheel cavity under a predetermined load that is applied to the vehicle forward of the tire and wheel assembly and offset from a longitudinal centerline of the vehicle.

A grounding block is provided. The grounding block includes a means for fastening and a formed metallic block. The formed metallic block further comprises two or more flanges, where each flange is configured to accept the means for fastening. The formed metal block further comprises a uniform clearance formed into the underside of the grounding block between the flanges and a hole formed through the grounding block configured to accept a bolt. Various embodiments include angled surfaces to optimize assembly ergonomics and variable depth to optimize the mass of the blocks.

The vehicle body panel, such as a floor pan, may have a generally planar portion adapted to be located adjacent to and conceal a vehicle component, such as a fuel pump module. An access portion is located within and extends out of plane of the generally planar portion, and includes a periphery, wherein the access portion is integral with the generally planar portion. Also, a cutting guide feature extends around it adjacent to the periphery.
