Systems and methods are disclosed for on-line monitoring of the condition of the stator insulation of an AC motor or an electric generator. In certain embodiments, the system includes a transformer surrounding each pair of input and output cables associated with a given phase of power provided to the AC motor or generated by the electric generator. In another embodiment, a transformer surrounds the three input cables (for an AC motor) or the three output cables (for an electric generator) that correspond to phases of the AC motor or electric generator. In both embodiments, the transformers generate voltages that may be used to monitor leakage currents associated with the cables. A microcontroller monitors the voltages generated by the transformers and determines the condition of the stator insulation of the AC motor or the electric generator based on the voltages.

On-line monitoring of stator insulation in motors and generators

A display for showing indicia in the form of a bar graph is provided. The display is configured so that each bar of the bar graph depicts a numerical or other quantitative value of a parameter. Each bar is provided with one or more additional indicia representative of numerical values that are related to the numerical values represented by the bar(s) shown in the bar graph. Each of the one or more additional indicia is positioned to as to be superimposed over the respective bar to which the additional indicia correspond, and depict the relationship(s) between the value represented by the bar and the value represented by the one or more additional indicia.

A system for use in monitoring operation of a rotating device includes at least one first sensor that senses a position of a first component coupled to the rotating device, and at least one second sensor that senses a position of a second component coupled to the rotating device. A processor coupled to the first sensor and the second sensor calculates a first plurality of property values of the first component based on the first component position, and a second plurality of property values of the second component based on the second component position. The processor graphically presents a first display including at least one trace based on the first plurality of component property values, graphically presents a second display including at least one trace based on the second plurality of component property values, and synchronizes the trace in the first display with the trace in the second display.

Systems and methods for use in monitoring operation of a rotating device

A system for use in monitoring operation of a rotating device is described herein. The system includes at least one sensor, an input device, a display device, and a processor. The sensor is configured to sense a position of a component coupled to the rotating device, and to generate a signal indicative of the position of the component with respect to a reference. The input device is configured to generate a signal indicative of a user selection input. The processor is coupled in communication with the sensor, the input device, and the display device, and is programmed to calculate a plurality of timebased position values associated with a relative position of the component with respect to a predefined period of time. A plurality of orbital position values associated with a relative position of the component are calculated by the processor. The processor graphically presents at least one of a plurality of timebased traces corresponding to the calculated plurality of timebased position values and a plurality of orbit traces corresponding to the calculated plurality of orbital position values in response to a user selection input via said input device.

System and method for monitoring rotating device

A system for use in monitoring operation of a rotating device includes at least one sensor configured to sense a position of a component coupled to a rotating device with respect to a predefined axis and generate a signal indicative of the component position. A processor is programmed to calculate a plurality of property values of the component based at least partially on the position, and graphically present at least one time-based waveform based on at least a portion of the component property values. The processor is also programmed to graphically present at least one orbit plot based on at least a portion of the plurality of component property values, and synchronize the time-based waveform with the orbit plot. The time-based waveform is indicative of a position of the component along the axis, and the orbit plot is indicative of a position of the component within a predefined plane.

A current transformer assembly for use in an electrical monitoring system is described herein. The current transformer assembly includes a housing including a plurality of shielding members that at least partially define a cavity therein. The housing further includes an inner surface that defines an opening that extends therethough. A first current transformer is positioned within the housing. A second current transformer is positioned within the housing and is spaced a distance from the first current transformer to facilitate reducing electronic noise interference between the first and second current transformers.
