Eyewear including an optical functional member, control electronics, and a sealed electrical connective element connecting the electronics to the optical functional member. The connective element can directly connect the electronics to the optical functional member, or can connect through an intermediate contact, e.g., a plug-and-receptacle. The connective element can be muted from the electronics, around a rimlock of the eyewear to the optical functional member. The connective element can be a conductive compressible member, such as conductive rubber. In some embodiments, the connective element can be a multiconductor cable.

An auger stand, system, and method of use thereof for lifting a longitudinal object. The auger stand comprises at least one wall section forming a hollow inner cavity for receiving an auger, a landing to support a load from the auger and provide an upward thrust, and a base for supporting the auger stand including an anchoring mechanism to prevent rotation of the auger stand. During operation, the auger is rotated in a first direction to screw into the auger stand and rotated in a second direction to unscrew from the auger stand and lift the longitudinal object. The auger stand may also be used as a cover to protect the auger and a stand to support the auger in an upright position.

A lens includes a lens body, and an electro-active section (liquid crystals and a diffraction section) that is provided to a region of part of the lens body. Electronic eyeglasses consist of electro-active lenses, receiving electrical signals that turn them on and off from an electronic control module. The electronic control module is embedded within a temple of the eyeglass frame, and is powered by a removable power source pack residing at a temple tip through a flexible cable. Various methods describe the interconnection schemes between the components of the electronic eyeglasses.

Electrically conductive lens connection and methods of making the same

Systems and methods for manufacturing electro-active lenses including a peripheral edge, a discrete electro-active region, and at least two substrates. The at least two substrates include a layer of a transparent conductive material, that is laser cut to isolate regions required for establishing an electrical connection between the peripheral edge of the lens, from regions not required for establishing an electrical connection. Isolating the regions of the transparent conductive material required for establishing an electrical connection may include cutting patterns around an electrode of each of the substrates. The regions not required for establishing an electrical connection may be further cut into sections, which may be substantially band-shaped.

Systems and methods for viewing image data. The system includes a head borne image source, a controller, an eyepiece lens assembly and a display device. The head borne image source images an object and provides the image data. The controller determines a focus adjustment from a focus position of the head borne image source. The display device receives and displays the image data to a user's eye via the eyepiece lens assembly. A distance between the eyepiece lens assembly and the display device is adjusted based on the focus adjustment responsive to the focus position.
