The novel antimicrobial composition is disclosed including from about 60 to 95% of a lipophilic polar solvent such as propylene glycol, ethylene glycol, or isopropanol and from about 0.5 to 5% of a mixture of Cto Cfatty acids. Other constituents of the present invention may include water, an alcohol (such as ethanol or propanol) or a mixture thereof. Also disclosed is a novel method of killing harmful microbes on the udder of a milk-producing animal using the above-mentioned composition.

Fatty acid antimicrobial

A teat dip composition comprising from about 0.1% to about 2% iodine by weight of the composition on a formulation basis and form about 45% to about 99.9% propylene glycol by weight of the composition on a formulation basis, and a method of using such composition to treat mastitis.

Iodine-propylene glycol teat dip

A teat dip composition comprising from about 0.1% to about 2% iodine by weight of the composition on a formulation basis and from about 50% to about 99.9% propylene glycol by weight of the composition on a formulation basis, and a method of using such composition to treat mastitis.

Germicidal compositions for the treatment of animal infectious diseases

An ultrasound teat dip comprises a dip cup having a well adapted to receive a supply of a germicide and an upper opening for receiving a teat to be dipped in the germicide, in use. A sonic transducer is operatively coupled to the well to sonically vibrate the well to produce cavitation in the germicide supply. A storage vessel defines a reservoir for storing a supply of germicide. The storage vessel is secured to the dip cup. A flow tube transfers germicide stored in the reservoir to the well to refill the dip cup with germicide.
