An example method for determining fluid flow in an open channel fluid conduit may include coupling a sensor assembly to an exterior surface of the open channel fluid conduit. Measurements may be received from the sensor assembly. The method may further include calculating a flow rate of a fluid within the open channel fluid conduit based, at least in part, on the received measurement.

A disclosed example of a sensing device includes an optical surface and an air curtain generator positioned around the optical surface. The air curtain generator has at least one nozzle operable to provide a continuous forced air region traveling away from the optical surface, thereby forming an air curtain around the optical surface that provides a debris barrier for the optical surface.

A method includes receiving an image of drill cuttings with a data acquisition system that includes one or more processors, the drill cuttings originating from a wellbore being drilled and including a plurality of particles. The image of the drill cuttings is analyzed with the one or more processors by obtaining three two-dimensional distance measurements for each particle and obtaining four angular measurements for each particle. The one or more processors then determine at least one of a particle size distribution of the drill cuttings and a shape distribution of the drill cuttings based on the three two-dimensional distance measurements and the four angular measurements of each particle.

Degasser assemblies, systems and methods, including an air-driven degasser assembly that includes a degasser having a drive shaft with a seal that inhibits intrusion of ambient air and an air motor having a motor shaft that drives the drive shaft. A chum dispensing assembly comprising a container having a substantially elongated, cylindrical configuration defining a hollow interior for the containment of chum. The container comprises a separable portion movably mounted on or connected to a remainder of the container by a connecting assembly disposed and structured to facilitate substantially linear, axial displacement of the separable portion outwardly from the remainder of the container to form a dispensing opening through which chum passes from the hollow interior. Displacement of the separable portion into the open position is normally accomplished by a predetermined 'pulling' force exerted on an upper end of the container when submerged at a location where the chum is intended to be dispensed.
