This disclosure provides implementations of methods, apparatus and systems for producing acoustic wave devices and for selectively modifying one or more acoustic or electromechanical characteristics of such devices. In one aspect, a method includes depositing a structural layer over a substrate. The structural layer includes a plurality of structural portions, each being positioned over a corresponding device region. The method also includes arranging a mask layer over the structural layer. The mask layer includes a plurality of mask portions, each including a number of mask openings that expose a corresponding region of the structural portion. The method also includes accelerating dopant particles toward the mask layer. The accelerated dopant particles that proceed through the mask openings are impacted into the corresponding structural portion. The impacted dopant particles modify material properties in the structural portion, which then effect a change in the acoustic or electromechanical characteristics of the acoustic wave device.

Selective tuning of acoustic devices

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for EMS devices. In one aspect, an EMS device includes an array of display elements and a plurality of driver lines with at least a portion of the plurality of driver lines routed above or below the array between one or more driver circuits and the array. In some implementations, at least a portion of the plurality of driver lines is disposed above a non-active area of the array. In one aspect, an EMS device can form a portion of at least one of the plurality of driver lines. In some implementations, movable layers of the array can be disposed between at least a portion of the plurality of driver lines and stationary electrodes of the display.

Electromechanical systems device

A structure of a film filter includes a plurality of film layers made of a film stack material and a substrate wafer which said film layers are deposited on at a temperature substantially higher than a room temperature and retained to after being cooled to the room temperature. The substrate wafer has a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than that of the film stack material so as to generate compressive forces upon the associated film layers, thus resulting in the film filter having a negative temperature drift coefficient.

A composite mold includes a mold base, a protective film provided on the mold base, and a water-cooling heat dissipation system disposed within the mold base. Wherein, the protective film is comprised of with a plurality of ReIrlayers and a plurality of SiC layers, the ReIrlayers and the SiC layers are alternatively stacked one on another, x is in the range from 0.25 to 0.55, and y is in the range from 0.45 to 0.75. Alternatively, the protective film is comprised of an ReIrlayer, a catalyst layer and a carbon nanotube layer in that order, x is in the range from 0.25 to 0.55, and y is in the range from 0.45 to 0.75.

A coated plastic substrate module () includes a plastic substrate (), an organic coating (), and a modulating film () sandwiched therebetween. The modulating film is made from partially stabilized zirconia. A method for manufacturing a coated plastic substrate module includes the following steps: providing a plastic substrate; forming a modulating film on the plastic substrate, the modulating film being made from partially stabilized zirconia; forming an organic coating on the modulating film; and annealing the treated plastic substrate having the modulating film and organic coating.

A lens unit () includes a lens body () and a thin film () provided thereon. The thin film comprises a plurality of sections () from a center to a periphery. Each section has a different refractive index. The refractive index of the each section of the thin film increases from the center to the periphery of the lens body/thin film. Such a lens unit can be advantageously incorporated into a compact digital camera.

Optical lens module

A polarizer () for a liquid crystal display device includes a polarizer base (), a first protective layer () and a second protective layer () on two sides of the polarizer base for protecting the polarizer base, and an anti-reflection layer () on the first protective layer. The anti-reflection layer includes a first layer (), a second layer (), a third layer () and a fourth layer () stacked in order. The anti-reflection layer of the polarizer can reduce the reflection of the light irradiated on the polarizer, and the loss of light can be reduced and higher light transmission rate can be achieved.

Polarizer and equipment for manufacturing the same

The present invention discloses a mold and a method of manufacturing the mold. The mold includes a mold matrix and a number of boron nitride nanotubes sintered together with the mold matrix. Each boron nitride nanotube capsules a number of fullerenes therein respectively. The mold further includes an amount of noble metal powder sintered together with the mold matrix and the boron nitride nanotubes. The fullerenes preferably include Cmolecules. In addition, the method for manufacturing a mold includes the steps of: providing a number of boron nitride nanotubes, each boron nitride nanotube capsuling a number of fullerenes therein respectively; mixing a mold matrix with the boron nitride nanotubes capsuling the fullerenes to form a complex; molding the complex to form a mold preform; and sintering the mold preform, thereby attaining a mold.

A surface light source () includes a light guide plate () and a light source (). The light guide plate has an incident surface () and an emitting surface (). The light source is adjacent to the incident surface of the light guide plate for radiating light beams into the light guide plate through the incident surface. The emitting surface defines a large number of prisms (), in which the distance (L) separating each two adjacent prisms changes according to an intensity of the light beams received from the light source. In particular, the pitch between two prisms decreases with increasing distance away from the light source. By the cooperation of the prisms and the light source, the surface light source has uniform illumination over the whole emitting surface.

A backlight system has a light guide plate. The light guide plate includes a transparent plate having a light incidence surface and an opposite light emitting surface, and a light transmittance enhancement layer. The light transmittance enhancement layer is provided on either or both of the light emitting surface and the light incidence surface, and is made of silicon dioxide or magnesium fluoride. The thickness of the light transmittance enhancement layer is in the range from 58&#x2dc;69 nanometers.

A back light module () includes a light guide plate () and a light source (). The light guide plate includes a light incident surface (), a light emitting surface (), and a bottom surface () opposite to the light emitting surface. The bottom surface has a plurality of dissymmetric protrusions (). The dissymmetric protrusions defines an angle &#x3b1; between a first side () thereof and a reference line of a length of the light guiding plate, and an angle &#x3b2; between a second side () thereof and the reference line. The light guiding plate has high brightness and uniformity.

A hybrid lens () includes a plastic lens () and a glass coating film (). The plastic lens is manufactured by injection molding. The glass coating film is formed on an outer surface of the plastic lens and encloses the outer surface of the plastic lens. The coating film comprises a single layer of glass material or a plurality of layers of glass material. The glass coating film is deposited on the outer surface of the plastic lens by vacuum deposition. The hybrid lens reduces chromatic aberration and provides improved image quality for an imaging system. A method for making the hybrid lens is also provided.

Hybrid lens

A heat pipe () includes a pipe (), a wick (), and an operating fluid. The wick is fixedly engaged with an inside wall of the pipe. The operating fluid is sealed in the pipe and soaks the wick. The operating fluid includes a pure liquid, and a plurality of carbon nanocapsules () suspended in the pure liquid. The pure liquid can be selected from the group consisting of pure water, ammonia, methanol, acetone and heptane. Each carbon nanocapsule is a polyhedral carbon cluster (), with a metal () having high thermal conductivity filled therein. The operating fluid has high thermal conductivity and uniform operation, and is recyclable with no pollution of the environment. The heat pipe has correspondingly high thermal conductivity.

An embodiment of a complex lens () includes a central substrate (), two opposite glass layers (), and two opposite IR-cut layers (). The substrate is made of transparent plastic, such as polycarbonate or polymethyl methacrylate. The glass layers are deposited on opposite surfaces of the substrate. The IR-cut layers are deposited on surfaces of the glass layers. The substrate has a spherical or an aspheric surface. The IR-cut layers have a function of filtering infrared rays, thereby improving the image-forming quality of the complex lens. The substrate is typically made of polycarbonate or polymethyl methacrylate. The glass layers are typically made of ZrO&#x2014;YOor SiC. Each IR-cut layer includes a plurality of films of TiOand SiO.

Complex lens

An integrated circuit package includes a die mounted on a substrate, an integrated heat spreader set above the die, and an array of carbon nanotubes mounted between the die and the integrated heat spreader. The integrated heat spreader is fixed on the substrate, and includes an inner face. The array of carbon nanotubes is formed on the inner face of the integrated heat spreader. Top and bottom ends of the carbon nanotubes perpendicularly contact the integrated heat spreader and the die respectively. Each carbon nanotube can be capsulated in a nanometer-scale metal having a high heat conduction coefficient.
