One embodiment relates to an apparatus, comprising logic, at least partially incorporated into hardware, to: receive first sensor data associated with a first sensor of a first smart device; determine a first reliability factor associated with the first sensor data; receive second sensor data associated with a second sensor of a second smart device; and determine a second reliability factor associated with the second sensor data. The logic is further to determine a sensor data reporting plan based upon the first reliability factor and the second reliability factor, the sensor data reporting plan indicating whether each of the first sensor and the second sensor are to subsequently send their respective sensor data to a primary communication device.

One embodiment relates to an apparatus, comprising logic, at least partially incorporated into hardware, to receive a notification message from a primary communication device by a smart device using a first communication protocol, the notification message including notification information received at an operating system layer of the primary communication device; determine, by the smart device, whether the notification message meets predetermined criteria; and responsive to a determination that the notification message meets the predetermined criteria, send, by the smart device, a loopback notification message including a representation of at least a portion of the notification information to the primary communication device using a second communication protocol.

In some cases, the user's present location is represented by a circle, having a center and a radius, where the radius is indicative of the accuracy of the present location. The desired destination location, or geofence, is also defined as a circle, having a center and a radius. The various methods disclosed are used to determine when a user has entered or exited the geofence. In some embodiments, these methods attempt to minimize power consumption or another parameter. In another embodiment, the methods attempt to achieve the highest degree of accuracy possible or required for the task.

System and method for device-centric location detection and geofencing

Techniques and mechanisms for exchanging information between a mobile device and another device which is to serve as an accessory to the mobile device. In an embodiment, the accessory device and the mobile device are coupled to one another via an audio connector of the mobile device. The mobile device receives via the audio connector encoded signals which represent, in a first frequency range, information generated by a sensor of the accessory device. The first frequency range is within an audible frequency range and outside of a telephony frequency range of the mobile device. In another embodiment, the encoded signals are provided to telephony logic of the host device during a telecommunication exchange between the host device and a remote device. Due to its representation in the first frequency range, some sensor information is prevented from being represented as an audio signal in the telecommunication exchange.

One embodiment relates to an apparatus, comprising logic, at least partially incorporated into hardware, to determine whether a first device priority associated with a first smart device is greater than a second device priority associated with a second smart device; and responsive to a determination that the first device priority is greater than the second device priority: send first data associated with the first smart device from the first smart device to a primary communication device; and send a first message from the first smart device, the first message including a first indication that the second smart device is to transmit second data associated with the second smart device to the primary communication device.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and configurations for an apparatus to reduce sensor power consumption, in particular, through predictive data measurements by one or more sensors. In one instance, the apparatus may include one or more sensors and a sensor management module coupled with the sensors and configured to cause the sensors to initiate measurements of data indicative of a process in a first data measurement mode, determine a pattern of events comprising the process based on a portion of the measurements collected by the sensors in the first data measurement mode over a time period, and initiate measurements of the data by the one or more sensors in a second data measurement mode. Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that can be configured to determine that an unobtrusive gesture has been received on a first electronic device and send a signal to a second electronic device in response to the unobtrusive gesture. The first electronic device can also be configured to receive a signal from the second electronic device, determine an unobtrusive output in response to the signal, and generate an unobtrusive notification in response to the received signal. In an example, the first electronic device is a part of jewelry worn by a user.
