A peristaltic pump assembly for pumping a fluid medium from a fluid source through a tubing having a compressible pumping section, which assembly comprises a housing including at least one support wall; a drive shaft journalled substantially loosely to the support wall; a plurality of cam plates eccentrically mounted on the drive shaft in a helical pattern along the drive shaft and rotatable together with the drive shaft for, during a rotation of the drive shaft, driving finger plates sequentially in a direction perpendicular to the drive shaft to cause respective finger tips of the finger plates to engage the pumping section thereby producing a moving zone of occlusion along the pumping section for pumping the fluid medium; and an adjustment mechanism mounted on the support wall for adjustably displacing the drive shaft together with the cam plates and the finger plates in a direction perpendicular thereto. The adjustment mechanism comprises a shaft bearing plate mounted on the support wall for movement in a linear direction parallel to the direction of movement of each finger plate and through which the drive shaft extends rotatably, and a drive member for adjustably moving the bearing plate in the linear direction.

Peristaltic pump assembly

A stable and highly maneuverable home care intravenous container stand is provided. The present device includes a base defining a low center of gravity which is supported by front casters and back wheels. A main pole is removably retained in a clamp secured to the base. An adjustable sub-pole having a support arm is telescopically carried to the main pole. A vertically adjustable handle is provided on the main pole.

Home care intravenous stand

A flexible tubing occluding device is provided for releasably occluding flexible tubing. The tubing occluding device includes housing that is adapted to receive the tubing and defines a tubing occluding surface against which a transverse section of the tubing is transversely urged and compressed when in an occluded position. A wedge-shaped tongue member is provided for urging the transverse section of the tubing against the tubing occluding surface. The geometry of the tubing occluding surface and the wedge-shaped tongue member cooperate to distribute a relatively low amount of force at the center portion of the occluded tubing and a relatively large force at the distal ends of the occluded tubing, utilizing the mechanical advantage of the wedge-shaped tongue member. The tubing occluding surface is configured so that the bottom half of the occluding tubing generally conforms to its original shape and so that most of the strain energy stored within the occluded tubing is utilized to allow restoration of the top half of the occluded tubing to an open position when the tubing is released from the occluded position.

Tubing occluder

A tubing occluder pump is provided that includes a structure for occluding flexible tubing that distributes a relatively low amount of force at the transverse center portion of the tubing during occlusion and a relatively large force at the distal transverse ends of the occluded tubing, utilizing a mechanical advantage. The occluding structure includes a recessed first occluding surface and a projecting occluding surface. The tubing occluding surface is configured so that one-half of a transverse section of occluded tubing generally conforms to its original shape and so that most of the strain energy stored within the occluded tubing is utilized to return the other half of the tubing to an open position. The occluding structure may form part of either a peristaltic pump or a linear pump.
